The Terror Time Line, "Killtown" and the Oddities of the 9/11 "Movement"

Anyone familiar with Craig "Killtown" Lazo's material takes it as a given he's a fraud.  If he's not exploiting the murder of German exchange students or accusing real estate agents of faking photos, Lazo's inventing blackmail lies.  Kt Lazo thinks the day's been wasted unless he's fabricating something about someone to push whatever Libertard conspiracy agenda he clings to instead of having a life.

While many of us suspected his accusations were some form of projection, little did we think we'd ever find proof that, Killtown is a fraud.  Or at least he's stolen the work of someone else to build his reputation.

Our story begins with one of the most respectable early 9/11 websites,
The Complete 9/11 Timeline
"The Complete 9-11 Timeline" section was
developed and is maintained
 by Paul Thompson.

at the defunct URL:   complete911timeline.org

As readers can see perusing the Wayback machine,  the sole responsibility of the website is claimed by Paul Thompson, a person who was literally sucked into 9/11 Truth via the Internet:

Paul Thompson One man can change the world. Or at least much of its what, when, where, and how. By Doug Cantor | Dec 1, 2004 | 358 words He never studied, trained, or even had any intention to become an authority on terrorism. But never underestimate the power of one man's curiosity. Holed up every night in front of the computer in his San Francisco home, poring over news on the Internet, Paul Thompson grew increasingly frustrated with how incomplete the story of September 11 was. Armed with only a broadband connection, he started to gather every credible fact he could find online. Then he condensed each point of information and put it in chronological order. His Terror Timeline quickly became a monster of about fifteen hundred items, tracing the last quarter century of terrorist activity, incorporating a detailed trail of intelligence failures, and providing a nearly minute-by-minute account of the day of the attacks.
What had started as Thompson's hobby soon became his obsession. Early this year, he quit his job with an environmental protection group, moved halfway around the world to New Zealand, and began dedicating his full attention to a solitary pursuit that paid nothing and seemed unlikely to be seen by more than a handful of people. Finally, he found a small audience through the Center for Cooperative Research, a California-based historical-record-keeping Web site that shared his philosophy of nonpartisanship, information sharing, and reliance on mainstream news sources. The marriage was a fruitful one. People started e-mailing him to point out new information and to make corrections to his data. Open-source historiography had arrived. The result is that Thompson has assembled by far the most comprehensive and detailed record of September 11 and the events surrounding it ever created.
Thompson may have furthered the cause of journalism to a greater degree than if he worked as a journalist himself. His timeline (cooperativeresearch.org) has become a trusted resource for reporters and researchers, and this fall it was published in book form (The Terror Timeline) by HarperCollins. Still, Thompson continues with his self-imposed labor. "If somebody were to say to me, 'Give me your one paragraph on who did it on 9/11,' I don't feel I could tell you," he says. "And I don't want to stop until I know that answer."

I want to feel sorry for him, I really do.  I know someone else with a similar story, and it speaks to the power and volume of fringe right propaganda flooding the Internet then that anyone could be sucked into it's event horizon.

But....

At no point would I have ever given up a stable, well paying job no matter how compelling the evidence appeared.  In fact the only reason the evidence appeared so compelling was the devastating the economic climate in the wake of 9/11.  For a person relatively financially secure to throw it all away and move to a different country...that's some dedication.
And it raises questions.  Was Thompson's frustration with the incomplete 9/11 story before or after the release of the 9/11 Commission Report in June of 2004, six months before the interview dated Dec 1, 2004?
[Dates vary: Wiki has it at Jan of 2004, while the current page says Nov 2005.  I'm going with the wayback date of Dec 1, 2004]

Another problematic issue is, Thompson's book was promoted  to me as valuable because all his sources were supposedly from mainstream media, but under reported.  In fact, this appears not to be the case.  Whether this was Thompson or one of his boosters misrepresenting his work, more research is needed.

While that article may be hard to pin down, others aren't.  Take the Village Voice article about Thompson, that definitely predates the Release of the 9/11 Commission Report:

Timeline of Tragedy

Picking up the pieces of 9-11, putting them in order, trying to make sense

WASHINGTON, D.C.—From his outpost on New Zealand's South Island, overlooking the stormy Tasman Sea, Paul Thompson, a young American, might seem like the most unlikely of detectives trying to sort through the historical debris of another hemisphere.
But this former California environmental activist is one of a handful of freelance, unpaid, amateur sleuths who have become a 9-11 Information Central—what amounts to an intelligence apparatus aimed at pinning down what the Bush administration knew and didn't know about 9-11, before and after the attacks. The results of this sleuthing often find their way to the 9-11 families, and in particular, to the by now mythic Jersey Girls, as the leaders of the survivors' families have come to be called.
The researchers are in many ways similar to the team Scott Armstrong, the former Washington Post reporter, recruited in the mid 1980s to uncover the roots of Reagan's secret Iran-Contra deals. The National Security Archive, making extensive use of the the Freedom of Information Act, soon established itself as the lead independent investigatory body, and today stands as a major independent research operation in the nation's capital.
At the hub of the 9-11 research is Thompson's intricate timeline on the website of the Center for Cooperative Research (cooperativeresearch.org). As of April 19, the crisply written timeline consists of 1,382 items, beginning with the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 and running up to the present. In addition to the basic, annotated chronology, there are offshoot timelines for each of the four flights that day, along with a minute-by-minute recounting of President Bush's activities on 9-11. Still other timelines delve into official "lies" from 1979 forward.
Thompson, now in his thirties, grew up in Northern California, attended Stanford, and then moved to New Zealand. A self-described "typical mainstream California Democrat" and former environmental activist who worked on trying to save the rain forests in Borneo, Thompson has pieced together his chronology from myriad sources across the globe. He has pored over 5,000 articles and reports so far and spends most of each day on the project, reading hundreds of incoming e-mails and trolling the Web himself.
Several things are notable about this article.  One, Thompson is not mocked as a kook.  The fact is thanks to the Bush administration's combination of epic incompetence and arrogant lack of transparency, many persons on the left of the political spectrum were willing to look at any explanation besides "oops".  No one could be that dumb, was the feeling.  (Turns out they can, but that's another story. )  Hence the Village Voice's indulgence.

Second Thompson identifies as a Democrat, so it's reasonable to assume his politics are leftist.  Thompson, unlike many "truther" leaders to follow , had no ties to the fringe or Libertarian right.  But by the same token he would know nothing of them and be likely to take anything the said at face value.

Third, the comparrison of Thompson's research to Scott Armstrong of the Washington Post is another indicator that, given the political climate of 2004, Thompson's research was considered reasonable.  If a journalist from the Villiage Voice thought it was reasonable, many other people on the left thought Thompson's concerns were reasonable.  This was before the more extreme "theories" were invented, which is probably a factor.

Fourth, Thompson had "hundreds of incoming emails".  This is where things get murky.  Because, with the exception of people like Thompson, leftists looking for a clue about what happened to their country, the majority of emails from people running 9/11 websites were frauds only to tickled to have found a volunteer front man, from the left of their politics no less.

Take a look at the links on Thompson's website in February 2003.  Among them all the usual fringe right, antisemite pro militia websites are in evidence. Thompson himself notes certain sites positively:

Jeff Rense, The Power Hour and  Daniel Hopsicker, I ask you.  "Hopsicker is doing amazing research in Florida about 9/11 that virtually no one else has uncovered."  Yes, Mr. Thompson, that's because he's making it up as he goes

Sigh.

But who among this list should I find than my best buddy Craig Lazo's website, "Killtown".  It was much sparser back then.  Hosted on koolpages, Lazo was less about  slandering random people then, and more about "just asking questions". It was still headed by his Big L Constitution twaddle:

"To preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic."

Plus an awkward Star Wars quote:

LUKE: "It looks like Sandpeople did this, all right. Look, here are Gaffi sticks, Bantha tracks. It's just...I never heard of them hitting anything this big before."

Ben is crouching in the sand studying the tracks.

BEN: "They didn't. But we are meant to think they did. These tracks are side by side. Sandpeople always ride single file to hide there numbers."

BEN: "And these blast points, too accurate for Sandpeople. Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise."

The main "research" is the so called Pentalawn, Flight 77 and an forgotten website of Lazo's called Bush at Booker.
What's conspicuously absent is Killtown's 9/11 Oddities.

But they can be found....on Paul Thompson's website in 2003 under
Oddities of 9/11, that links to Fall Out Shelter News.  If that doesn't scream paranoid militia separatist, I don't know what does.

At the full link: http://www.falloutshelternews.com/9_11_ODDITIES.html
they explain:
 Oddities of 9/11
Little-known facts of the world's best-known event
[We don't endorse any particular theories suggested by the links below. Our objective is not to "explain" 9/11, but to show that 9/11 has not yet been satisfactorily explained. The following oddities and inconsistencies show that a thorough and independent investigation of all aspects of 9/11 is not only warranted, but demanded by the facts.]

There's a petition that's defunt, but some parts can be found in Wayback:
 http://www.petitiononline.com/11601TFS/petition.html

This petition is credited to Lori Price, a woman rumoured to have an association with the veteran conartist James Fetzer.  Price's website was also one of the first places 911 oddities was published in 2002, with the same link to Fall Out Shelter News. No where on the page is a mention or link to Lazo's Killtown website.

But by 2005, Killtown's 911 oddities were not only listed on her website, but he had a timeline as well:
Complicit - Associated with or participating in a questionable act or a crime. --Killtown's 9-11 timeline
Killtown's 9-11 Oddities

The full title is the 9/11 coincidences and oddities page!
And redirects to hosting at 911review.org.  By the time Lazo's "Killtown Oddities" was published, Falloutshelternews appears to be gone.
Much of the material on FSN was probably reworked into Lazo's website, but even I have to grudgingly acknowledge the ambition behind Lazo's project.  It's not research so much as a Libertarian obsessed copy/pasta project.  Eventually it grew to over 200 and something so called "smoking guns".  But it wasn't Lazo's idea.
Unless Lazo had also been part of FSN, but that seems unlikely.   FSN was run by Carol Schiffler with the help of Lori Price.     But it's interesting Lazo ran with Schiffler's idea without ever acknowledging credit.  Someone should start a 911 oddities Fraud blog....

Of course this could have been deliberate.  Maybe Schiffler wanted to move on and Lazo was happy to take over propaganda duties. It's just that years later, what it looks like is Lazo, Schiffler and Price are all working together pushing a conspiracy con. Why? Oh, that's right, because they were.

Back to Thompson. Let's read what he says about these websites:
Oddities of 9/11 I found lots of leads here as well.

Killtown Excellent presentation of the Pentagon mystery and Bush's actions on 9/11.
The first is fair enough; there was little obvious woo then.  But calling Lazo's website an excelent presentation is a stretch.  Amaturish hack would be more accurate:

Another "oddity" of Lazo's page is the contact information:

We need your help!
If you know of any links to news articles, eyewitness reports, or photo's you think would be useful for this investigation, please e-mail us with these links.
And

Please e-mail us with any questions, comments, or suggestions!

Not I or he, but we and us.  This documents Lazo had a partner, or worked with a group.
There are rumors Lazo had help running his blog, probably his very blonde ex.  But this was before Lazo met the Libertard Blonde Bot.   Lazo did not work alone and he probably still doesn't.

Unlike Lazo, Thompson moved on without being driven offline due to terminally embarrassing behaviour.  But one has to wonder what Thompson thinks about his work since most of it was based on so called research  that is now known to be lies, if not outright Jew Hating propaganda.  At least 8 of the websites Thompson acknowledged are run by anti Semites or people with direct connection to racist friendly pro militia organizations.    From the Wilderness was set up by a man almost certain the victim of a cult confidence gameIt's true there was so much bullshite swimming across the interwebs it was virtually impossible to distinguish a fellow sincere seeker and a deliberate con.

But now it's obvious.  There was no conspiracy, besides trying to hide how incompetent Bush was at protecting national security.  There are no "agents" distrupting the "movement" because there is nothing to disrupt.  In light of this stark reality, it would help greatly if Thompson came forward to put the "911 truth" matter to rest.

There maybe questions remaining about the Bush administration's response to the attacks, but there was no "Inside Job".   It's a pity Thompson left a career and wasted over a decade of his life on a fraud.  I suppose in comparison I should feel lucky.

But the frauds don't get to get away with it....

Whatever Happened to Troy from West Virginia?

As 2014 closes and the 911 "truth" scam is gasping it's last dying breath, my thoughts go back to trolls of yesteryear, one of the sleaziest a man Troy Sexton, who styled himself as "Troy from West Virginia".

Troy made himself something of a "debunker" celebrity confronting "truthers" who almost always were never the actual architects of the truther con.

For instance Troy never bothered Steven "Earth Quake Machines" Jones, Kevin "Nazi apologist" Barrett or my bestest buddy in the world, Craig Lazo aka Killtown and his obsession with Suzanne Jovin and Val McClatchey.   Nope, almost without fail, much like the fake debunker Jaye Powers, Troy targeted people who were duped into the truth movement.  His motives are unclear, but the effect was to support the idea "agents" were trying to disrupt activism, therefore giving a false confirmation to people duped that their activism is real.

Troy's greatest hits include sending nasty emails as Joey P, examples posted at 911blogger:

http://911blogger.com/news/2007-04-25/troy-west-virginia-crosses-line-william-rodriguez

Today folks, Troy from west Virginia has crossed a line.
Troy sent many emails to William that rival the thoughts of Cho Seung-Hui. I have personally never seen more hate filled text in my entire life. I was utterly beside myself at the things that Troy said in his letters.
The FBI hate crimes div has been contacted. I am going to include the text of the letters sent to William by Troy. I will edit the cuss words. I am working with William personally to bring Troy to justice.
WARNING...THESE LETTERS MAY MAKE YOU VERY MAD...AS THEY SHOULD
First let's pause for a moment.  I've highlighted the FBI hates crimes division.  I don't necessarily doubt the poster's intentions, but he wasn't thinking clearly.  If 911 truth is about exposing a US government cover-up, isn't it a bit risky to contact the FBI?

We continue with the hate email in progress:

I joined the Jref forum to answer questions and told them, that once they acted more civil I will be willing to face them. I really want to open a dialogue and clear some of the misconceptions they may have. I found some real nice people there, but also many viscious one. Sadly I received this email of one of their forum members. A coward and an ignnorant. He is referring to the baby I just lost.
Read below and feel free to email him:

Charming fellow that Troy.  He also made a name attacking family members:

 http://911blogger.com/node/15768

And generally being oboxious, as Jon Gold writes here:

http://911blogger.com/node/14474

Cheered on by the SLC blog, who also feel it's okay to exploit  a 9/11 family member's personal information (see comments about Andrew Bernstein) as long as it can be used as an excuse to have a go at lefty activists they hate.

Troy Sexton was also behind the Killtwoofers blog, a bit of information I literally stumbled across, after demanding ISP traffic information from a source who had records from that time.  It confirmed what I'd suspected for some time, that SLC knew who it was all along.  Trying to blame me for setting up that blog was a sick, twisted game at least one of the SLC blog owners wittingly engaged in with the help of "truther" conartists known to Casseia/Killtown's group.  Brainless writes:
"When I saw the Killtwoofers site I was disgusted: A Sad Cry for Help."
Yeah, he's a real prince.   That ISP by the way(scroll down to update)?

 Update: an hour later:

After checking ISP traffic records, it does appear this "killtwoofers" is actually Troy from West Virginia.  Visited commentary about himself from a similar Suddenlink dynamic IP address(es) in September and October of 2009:

 Suddenlink Communications 173.80.157.40
The nature of dynamic IPs is an exact match is unlikely.  Unhappily for "Killtwoofers" the ISP can confirm records at the time.
Brainster knew it was Troy all along, and, sadly, I must accept that the more reasonable JamesB did too, if he was monitoring comments and webstats as he claims here:

 Of Course
Of course I condemn this behavior. I specifically posted two days ago that we would not tolerate threats against people. One of the reasons I decided to start monitoring comments was we had people pretending to be others. We would point out that Eric Williams was a Holocaust denier, and magically just minutes later a brand new blogger profile would be created by an alleged "debunker" Holocaust denier, and Jenny would get all "outraged". People can play these silly and offensive games if they want, they will just have to keep them of our site. That doesn't mean I am going to drop everything I am doing and get outraged everytime they do though.
When we point out cases of truther misbehavior, we point to actual real people, with real faces and names like Eric Williams, Kevin Barrett, and Jim Fetzer. We don't just go out and create a blogger profile so we can denounce him 5 minutes later.
Turns out, actually they do.

Which regrettably means JamesB will not be able to put this behind him without a formal apology.  Trolling with snarky comments is in no way equivalent to framing and gaslighting the target (Jenny)of a hate blog while protecting the individual (Troy Sexton) who actually made it.

And they there's Troy's arrest for child abuse.  What a guy.

But we don't hear about Troy any more.  Partly its because there are few people involved in the Truth scam who don't know they are pushing a scam.  But it's also because Troy's been tied up....in the legal system.

‘Obsessed’ Dodgers fan arrested in Cincinnati for violating lifetime ban
‘He’s outta here!’ Troy Sexton, aka ‘Troy from West Virginia’ was arrested at Great American Ball Park during a game between the Reds and Dodgers. The rabid Dodgers follower was barred from downtown Cincinnati stadium after a 2008 melee that delayed the start of the baseball game.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Thursday, June 12, 2014, 8:22 PM

Steee-rike! He's out.
A man with a history of abusive behavior was arrested in Cincinnati Tuesday night for violating a lifetime ban and showing up at Great American Ball Park, where the Reds faced the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Troy Sexton, who's come to be known to Dodger followers as "Troy from West Virginia," was charged with criminal trespass and obstructing official business. He also faces a felony burglary count, though it was not clear what prompted that charge.
He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on a $40,000 bond, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Sexton, 40, of Hurricane, W. Va., was banned from the stadium on the Ohio River in 2008, after his participation in a brawl raised such a ruckus the game was delayed.
He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in that incident. A charge of resisting arrest was dropped.
According to court documents, Sexton came to Tuesday night's game to "shatter lives (in) the next couple days," the Enquirer reported.

In 2009, Sexton had a series of run-ins with authorities in Putnam County, W. Va., after he was arrested for directing a racial slur at the local police chief and for holding one of his sons upside down and pushing another son to the ground at an elementary school football game.

He was sentenced to probation after his wife told the court her husband had a history of mental health issues and hadn't been taking his medication.
He's also under investigation for sending tapes to authorities alleging they contained the sounds of him beating his children.

It was always clear Troy was unwell, to say the least.  Or at least clear to anyone who wasn't cynically supporting Troy's "debunker" efforts that backhandedly gave undue credence to the Truther con.

Troy's "debunker" friends were just as gullible as they thought "truthers" were.  Whodda thought.

Let's Air The Laundry

I haven't covered as much as I planned this year, but you know, real life.
happens.    Let's take some time out for some random observations and corrections to our collective perceptions.

1.Self proclaimed "debunker" falls for Gamergate con

First up, I'll indulge a spot of pointing and laughing at one of the owners of Screw Loose Change who was spreading gamergate propaganda at JREF.  Either he's a gullible tool, or he's a secret supporter.  For those lucky few who don't know the clusterfuck that is gamergate, here's a relatively short summary.  Basically gamergate is another fringe political front.  But Brainster is very interested in the debunked sex for review angle:

As for the death threats, this post claims that it is most likely that Anita faked them. Ten tweets in 3 minutes, the last of which Anita screen captured 12 seconds after it was posted.

BTW, I find the story about Zoe Quinn sleeping around to get positive reviews for her games more interesting.
 Uh huh.  About that story:
...there is no evidence she "slept around for positive reviews." And to be honest I couldn't find anything more boring than someone else's sex life. Why are you interested in who someone else sleeps with?
But the reply to the "Anita faked it" angle Brainster is pushing is the best:
Twitter does this thing where if somebody puts your Twitter name in their post, you get notified about it immediately. It doesn't strike me as unusual at all that that any Twitter user would be disturbed by the nature of the first few initial tweets and click the name to see the rest, and quickly screenshot such material before it can be erased. If the person who started the account began tweeting while Sarkeesian was logged into Twitter, she would've seen the tweets immediately. No skullduggery or Truthy conspiracism necessary.

That must have hurt, the owner of a blog mocking the "truth" movement being told by a fellow skeptic to stop being a Gamergate "truther".  Priceless.

2. Next up in the How Far We Have Fallen category is Michael Shermer.

Shermer is best known in "truther" circles as  a debunker celebrity often lauded at the SLC blog:

Shermer has also been outed in the Skeptic community as a sexual predator and rapist, operating for possibly years with the protection of high ranking members of the community.  A bit like the Catholic Church. The following timeline is from 2008 to 2013:

Timeline of harassment and sexual assault allegations against Michael Shermer

Events during Shermer's debunking Truther phase:

June 19, 2008 Alison Smith
At The Amazing Meeting, Alison Smith, then-JREF employee through August 2010, and founder of the now defunct Skeptical Analysis of the Paranormal Society (down) (cached copy), alleges that Michael Shermer plied her with alcohol to the point of losing time and memory, then brought her to his hotel room and had non-consensual sex with her. (This is known, in legal circles and to us Social Justice Warriors and feminazis, as rape.)

September, 2008 Pamela Gay
Gay has recounted in several places, without naming names, a story that while being introduced to Michael Shermer at Dragon*Con in 2008, he made a drunken lunge at her breasts instead of shaking her hand. DJ Grothe has related this story a number of times to a number of people, indicating that he had intervened to stop the public groping from happening.

May 2010 Ashley Miller
At a dinner event she attended featuring PZ Myers, Ashley encounters Michael Shermer, who allegedly spoke with her for several minutes while massaging his genitals through his jeans. She describes the incident here.

May 23rd, 2012 pseudonymous commenter Miriamne
A comment left at Friendly Atheist names Michael Shermer as allegedly having harassed her, and “trying to sleep with a new young woman every TAM”.
Disgusting doesn't begin to cover it.  While one is tempted to blame Randi and he is ultimately responsible for what happens in his organization, it speaks well of him or at least of his pragmatism, that he's fired  DJ Grothe formerly in charge of the JREF forums(and apparently an enabler of Shermer) and retaken the helm personally.

Nonetheless, it's a bit of a mystery why it too so long.  I suspect Randi is very conservative, and while intelligent, it makes him susceptible to a certain type of charmer.   While leftists can be duped by charm and out right lies, people heavily investing in the authoritarian right are the experts at living in DeNile, especially when that person appears to be a vocal fan and supporter.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Shermer has a questionable history with David Cole.

Mr. Cole-stien , adept conartist and Nazi apologist that he is, claims to have known Shermer since 1993 and has a photo to prove it:

 Cole-stien goes on to rant:

I’ve known little Mikey Shermer since 1993. I tell many interesting stories about this “skeptic” fraud in my book, Republican Party Animal (available from Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes & Noble in the US, Waterstones and Foyles in the UK, Indigo/Chapters in Canada…but enough self-promotion).
Shermy got wind of the fact that I include quite a few pages of conversations that I recorded with him in 1994 – conversations in which he admits to defaming me and lying about my work regarding Holocaust revisionism. So, what did “Mr. Freethinker” do? How did “America’s leading skeptic and defender of free inquiry” respond?
He got his lawyers to serve my publisher with a demand to “refrain from publishing or distributing” my book! This is a man who slams religious institutions for stifling free inquiry and suppressing facts. And he wants to ban a book.
That’s some great skepticizin’ there, Mikey.
Given Holocaust Deniers don't actually have facts, it's unlikely Shermer was trying to suppress anything that supports the fraud of Holocaust denial.  Much more likely Shermer, already under fire from rape allegations, was in damage control mode, trying to hide the rest of the skeletons in his closet.  At the very least, showing Shermer presented himself to the public in a false light.  For instance, no where in this Donahue show dated 1994 [Disclaimer:video uploader interjects commentary showing they have sympathy with Holocaust "revisionism".  Am seeking a better copy of this show] does Shermer admits he knows Cole previously, apart from a couple of phone calls.  Watching the clip, Donahue wonder's why Shermer is going in where other Jewish groups prefer not to tread.  But if one looks at Shermer/Cole banter and Shermer's pugging his Skeptic magazine, a reason presents itself:  this was great publicity for Shermer's magazine and gave him instant credibility among readers.  Remember this was before the Internet.

In light of  Cole's exposure as a conartist, and Shermer's association with Cole, one has to wonder exactly how much of the truther/debunker/holocaust denial/forum trolling was a deliberate confidence game using JREF forums as a platform as an outpost of the cultural wars.  Remember, in the beginning the 911 truth con was pitched to the Left and the loudest debunkers come from the Right.

Last Notes on Shermer's friend Cole:
- Earlier clip from show, Cole reiterates, in spite of his Jewish background, that he's an Atheist. [Disclaimer:video uploader interjects commentary showing they have sympathy with Holocaust "revisionism".  Am seeking a better copy of this show]

 - The entire claim pushed by Nazi apologists that Cole was driven into hiding by Jews is skewed:  it wasn't Jews or "Zionists", but a man called Irv Rubin who represented a fringe rightwing extremist group.  A brief reading of Wikipedia will show Rubin in no way represents the actions of mainstream Jews or persons who object to anti-Semitism.

A note about fellow Donahue TV participant Bradley Smith from the ADL:

Though he often tries to present himself as a free speech activist, Bradley Smith has functioned as a propagandist for the Holocaust denial movement since 1983. He has achieved his greatest notoriety as the director of the Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust, whose mission is to disseminate Holocaust denial to students on college campuses. In more recent lectures promoting his book, Break His Bones, Smith has sought to refocus his message on the free speech issue and to “decriminalize Holocaust history.” Privately, he admits that his aim continues to be promoting “revisionism” and anti-Israel propaganda.

3. Last in the Laundry airing is Mia Dolan.

The "Mia Dolan" I know was responsible for exposing "gretavo" as Gustavo Espada, a member of Fetzer's Scholars group(a fact Espada has never admitted) in comments at the Daily Kos, where 911blogger users like "Cassiea" and "Vesa" were claiming to spread the truth.  This was in 2006, but I never knew about it until years later, unfortunately.  It would have been much easier to see it was all a scam by early 2007 if I had.

Sadly, Mia Dolan, however useful they've been confirming the Scholars/911blogger/Wtvdemolition scam, has chosen the screen name of a woman who claims to be a psychic:
Mia Dolan is an Isle of Sheppey-born best-selling author[citation needed] and self-proclaimed psychic based in the United Kingdom. She writes and teaches at her own psychic school.[1]
While I personally know people who are "psychic readers"- basically talented empathic cold readers who attribute their skills to intuition and/or spirit  guides, the money they "make" is a negligible gratuity and no different from visiting a therapist or priest.

When people are making thousands of dollars off so called psychic powers, that's a game changer.  Dolan has been mentioned on James Randi's forum.

The "Mia" at Dailykos appears to be in Minnesotta, at least according to their blog, Minnesota DFL Caucus Reminder (with Poll).

Nonetheless, their choice of screen name should make one cautious about where exactly they're coming.

That's all for now.  Given the convoluted nature of the "truther" fraud, this is unlikely to be the last of the laundry aired....

The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street

Anti facists have been passing this article around that details elements of OWS and the mechanisms of "infiltration" from fringe right groups.  Except that it's less infiltration after the fact and more they had their people in the planning groups from day one.   It's not as blatent a scam as the truth movement, but the elements are there:  let's build an ostensible progressive grassroots movement, the liberals will come, and we'll promote our sleazy agenda under the cover they give.

Not everyone was fooled, as one anarchist expounds, but enough people got caught up to make one cynical about the next allegedly leftist revolutionary movement.

One note of caution: the website Political Research, was a haunt of Chip Berlet, who was almost certainly in on the Kennebunkport Hoax.   Mr. Berlet was oddly defensive when asked any questions about how he even knew about the hoax, and one owner of the SLC blog with a record of dishonest conduct was rather quick to push Tarpley's frame, that people were getting money from Berlet and the Ford Foundation.   It seems Berlet's association with Political Research Associates has ended, so that's something.

Excerpts relevant to the "truth movement" fraud are quotes below.  Read the entire article at the following link:  http://www.politicalresearch.org/2014/02/23/the-right-hand-of-occupy-wall-street-from-libertarians-to-nazis-the-fact-and-fiction-of-right-wing-involvement/#

The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street: From Libertarians to Nazis, the Fact and Fiction of Right-Wing Involvement

Spencer Sunshine, Ph.D. (associate fellow) is a researcher and activist. His research interests include U.S. white nationalism, post-war fascism (particularly Third Position and European New Right politics), left/right crossover movements, and left-wing antisemitism. As an activist he has worked on issues regarding anti-fascism, police misconduct, prisoner rights, global trade agreements, environmental issues, and bisexual and queer politics. The most successful mobilization on the Left in recent years—the Occupy movement—had ambiguously defined enemies and used an organizing model that was easily replicated. These strategies were key elements of its success, but they also enabled a significant level of participation by the Right. Though it is tempting to gloss over or deny that reality, the Left would benefit from beginning to grapple with it.

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) has often been portrayed as the Tea Party’s ideological mirror image: a left-wing response to the global economic crises that began in August 2007. Initiated with a tent city in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park in mid-September 2011, spinoff “Occupations” soon spread across the United States and then to cities across the globe. These protests, which targeted the federal government’s cozy relationship with the banking interests that caused the economic collapse, channeled the mounting anger of those most devastated by the economic meltdown, especially debt-ridden students, the unemployed, and people who lost homes in the subprime mortgage crisis.
But this mainstream-media view tends to gloss over the involvement of right-wing and conspiracist groups in Occupy. In the perception of many participants, the Right’s presence was largely limited to a lone homeless man who paraded antisemitic signs around Zuccotti, which became the basis of a right-wing “smear” campaign. More recently, venture capitalists like Tom Perkins have slandered Occupy, absurdly comparing its attack on wealth inequality to the Nazi persecution of Jews.1 Because of this, many progressives plug their ears when they hear about right-wing groups and Occupy. (In this essay, OWS refers to the New York City occupation, while Occupy refers to the movement in general.)
Certainly, Occupy was always a largely left-leaning event. But right-wing participation has been the norm rather than the exception within recent left-wing U.S. movements—including the antiglobalization, antiwar, environmental, and animal rights movements—and Occupy was no exception.2 Right-wing groups inserted their narrative about the Federal Reserve into the movement’s visible politics; used Occupy’s open-ended structure to disseminate conspiracy theories (antisemitic and otherwise) and White nationalism; promoted unfettered capitalism; and gained experience, skills, and political confidence as organizers in a mass movement that, on the whole, allowed their participation.
Ideally, none of these things should have happened. Advocates for social justice need to assess the motivations, extent, and substance of right-wing participation in Occupy—just as has been done with past movements. Despite the painful feelings it might evoke, it is time for this process to start.

The problem of finance capital and ambiguous enemies

The original call for OWS from Adbusters magazine said the demonstrators themselves would decide on the “one demand” of the occupation, but this never materialized. Instead, the eminently populist slogan “We are the 99%” became their rallying cry. The one percent—often assumed to be those whose household incomes were over $500,000—was obviously associated with “Wall Street,” the focus of the demonstration.3 But many people with that kind of income were not associated with Wall Street at all. And, in any case, what exactly was Wall Street: the New York Stock Exchange? Banks? Bankers? Global corporations? The Federal Reserve? And who were the one percent: Crony capitalists specifically? Capitalists generally? The rich? Political elites? The Bilderberg Group? The Rothschild family? Jews? Or—as one popular conspiracy theorist had it—our reptilian overlords?

---------------------------------------

But in addition to this general, populist appeal for uniting the people against the elites, there was one specific piece of common ground. While few right-wing actors see capitalism as a system to be abolished, many are harsh critics of finance capital, especially in its international form. This critique unites antisemites, who believe that Jews run Wall Street; libertarian “free marketers,” who see the Federal Reserve as their enemy; and advocates of “producerist” narratives, who want “productive national capital” (such as manufacturing and agriculture) to be cleaved from “international finance capital” (the global banking system and free-trade agreements).

----------------------------------------------

In Occupy the most common demand of the various right-wing and conspiracy groups—especially those who openly called for Left-Right unity—was for the abolition of the Federal Reserve. Whether this is an issue actually shared by the Left, or just an attempt to get the Left to support right-wing policies, is another question.
---------------------------------------------------------

The initial controversy over antisemitism

The Right’s participation was far from limited to a handful of antisemites, but it is nonetheless true that Occupy’s attacks on finance capital attracted many of them, since such attacks were easily integrated into their fantasies of Jews controlling the banking industry. (Rather than explicitly naming Jews as the villain, antisemites often instead demonize a subgroup that they identify as Jewish, such as Zionists, international bankers, neoconservatives, “the Frankfurt School”—or Wall Street.)
Adbusters, the magazine that initially sparked OWS, has an especially troublesome past. Its editor and co-founder, Kalle Lasn, published an article in 2004 criticizing neoconservatives by invoking numerous antisemitic narratives. The article included a list of prominent neoconservatives with marks next to the Jewish names. Responding to widespread criticism, Lasn denied that he was antisemitic but showed no understanding of why the narrative of the article was offensive. More recently, the magazine has published articles by antisemitic writer and musician Gilad Atzmon.5 This certainly raises the question of whether Adbusters’s choice of Wall Street as a target may have been shaped by narratives influenced by antisemitism.
Some mainstream right-wing media attempted to discredit OWS as being primarily antisemitic from the outset.

-----------------------------------

The result was that many Occupy protestors on the Left felt that they were being unfairly “smeared” as antisemites by the mainstream Right in an attempt to discredit the movement as a whole, and, furthermore, that these claims were without merit.9 This fear of subversion created an atmosphere of denial and a general consensus that there was no involvement in Occupy by those further to the Right than Ron Paul.
Right-wing and conspiracist participation in Occupy was nonetheless real, and it involved more than 20 groups, prominent figures, and media outlets. These included Ron Paul supporters, Alex Jones, Oath Keepers, David Icke, We Are Change, Tea Party members, National-Anarchists, Attack the System, the Pacifica Forum, American Free Press, LaRouchites, Counter-Currents, the American Freedom Party, American Front, David Duke, the American Nazi Party, White Revolution, and others. (A detailed account of their participation is available separately in my essay, “Twenty on the Right in Occupy.”)10 Their involvement included attending planning meetings, taking part in the encampments, making appeals directed to the Occupiers, and co-opting online resources. They fell into four overlapping categories: anti-Federal Reserve activists, conspiracy theorists, antisemites, and White nationalists/neo Nazis.

------------------------------

The “End the Fed!” factor and the conspiracy theorists

As Occupy Wall Street burgeoned, Ron Paul was campaigning for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Although there was no obvious mechanism organizing their participation, Paulists were at the OWS planning meetings, and they remained a fixture in the movement and appeared at almost all Occupations, though they were usually a small but vocal minority.

 --------------------------------

The ambiguity of Occupy attracted a substantial number of Paul’s supporters, who in turn attracted a fair amount of media coverage for themselves. They gained general traction within Occupy because of their objection to the Federal Reserve’s bailout of the major banks after the financial collapse, and sometimes focused on its role in the subprime mortgage crisis. Counterintuitively for many, the lesson of the crisis for Paulists was the need for less—not more—federal involvement in the banking system.
Many others who wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve also became involved in Occupy; most supported Paul’s candidacy. Alex Jones, one of the most popular U.S. conspiracy theorists (although not a consistent supporter of Occupy), attempted to crash the movement by calling for a national event on Oct. 6, 2011, to “Occupy the Fed.” Jones said that, contrary to media portrayals of Occupy as left-leaning, “The people on the ground … understand the Federal Reserve is the central organization empowering this world government system. This is a revolt against banker occupation.”12
At the same time, the Oath Keepers organization, in concert with Jones and others, concocted a national push to insert “End the Fed!” rhetoric into Occupy under a call to “Occupy the Occupation!” (Oath Keepers, which holds armed marches, recruits current and former military and law enforcement employees who swear to “uphold the Constitution,” and is driven by conspiracies about the coming One World Government.) It also helped establish an encampment in Occupy Los Angeles and attempted to recruit there.13
Another Fed critic was David Icke, known for his metaconspiracy theory that the global elite are descendants of reptilian aliens who seek to enslave humanity—a story that weaves in classic antisemitic narratives. His “Essential Knowledge For A Wall Street Protestor” video, which promotes anti-Federal Reserve and related economic conspiracies, has about 350,000 views. He also made an hour-long “ad-lib documentary” in Zuccotti Park just after the encampment was evicted by authorities.14 Icke’s followers were active in both U.S. and U.K. Occupations.
Other conspiracists who worked in Occupy include We Are Change (WAC), an international 9/11 “Truther” group. Luke Rudkowski, the group’s founder, is a prolific video blogger and is well-known for his paparazzi-style interviews. On site at OWS from the first day, he did extensive video coverage at Zuccotti Park and is also featured in David Icke’s videos.
Members of WAC New York City, a splinter faction, were also active in OWS, including Danny Panzella, a Tea Party activist who ran for state office in 2010. Even before OWS, Panzella organized demonstrations against the downtown Manhattan Federal Reserve, and he worked hard to refocus Occupy on an “End the Fed!” agenda. He appeared on the Fox News show Freedom Watch, in one of a number of the show’s broadcasts that encouraged libertarians to attend Occupy events.15 Other members of the group who worked with OWS included Craig FitzGerald, a “National-Anarchist” who promotes Holocaust denial and endorses White separatism.

------------------------------

Online, antisemites have continued to be connected to Occupy projects. The most popular is an imposter Facebook page that mimics the “real” main one—and posts blatantly antisemitic content. It has attracted nearly 650,000 followers. (By contrast, the page affiliated with the organization that arose from the Zuccotti encampment has fewer than 500,000 followers.) It is unclear who the secretive administrators of the imposter site are, or why it became so popular. Attempts to remove it have so far been unsuccessful.17
One of the Far Right’s most enthusiastic Occupy champions was the American Free Press, an antisemitic weekly newspaper that is heir to Willis Carto’s media empire. It promoted Occupy even before the initial action, and for months it printed numerous articles supporting the movement, including firsthand reporting from various Occupations.18
Lyndon LaRouche’s Far Right sect was initially involved in OWS. It has long pushed for restoring Glass-Steagall, a New Deal-era act that limited the kinds of investments that banks could make, which was repealed in the late 1990s. Many believe that it would have prevented the housing crisis had it remained in effect. During Occupy, two bills were in Congressional committee that would have restored its provisions, and it was a priority for many Occupy protestors on the Left, as well. LaRouche’s followers were active in the OWS planning meetings, where Glass-Steagall’s restoration was one of six initial proposals for the never-realized “one demand.”19 LaRouche’s organization even claimed credit for making its reinstatement “a leading demand of the movement.”20 Staff at Counter-Currents, a leading U.S. publisher of intellectual fascism and White nationalism, claimed to have attended the San Francisco and Oakland occupations, and they described the events as a valuable experience
---------------------------------

The most prominent figure on the Far Right to endorse Occupy was David Duke, a former Republican state representative from Louisiana and an elder statesman of the U.S. White nationalist movement. In a video from October 2011, “Occupy Zionist Wall Street,” Duke denounced the “Zionist thieves at the Federal Reserve” and “the most powerful criminal bank in the world, the Zionist Goldman Sachs, run by that vulture-nosed bottom feeder, Lloyd Blankfein.” The video has received more than 100,000 views to date. Duke later wrote on the White supremacist web forum Stormfront that “OWS is an opportunity. … Grab this opportunity!”22
White nationalists also participated in some of the movement’s less high-profile iterations, such as Occupy Indianapolis (OI). Matt Parrott of Hoosier Nation—the local branch of the White nationalist American Third Position Party, now called the American Freedom Party—attended OI, and made a video interviewing participants. He wrote: “Our experience was peaceful and positive, affirming my suspicion that the majority of the Occupy Indianapolis attendees were fed up with the same corporate and federal abuses the majority of the Tea Party protesters are fed up with.”23 His colleague “Tristania” [Nazi lover and Libertarian operative Jaenelle Antas] posted a comment on Stormfront saying that “it was a very good opportunity for outreach” and that “it’s about cherry picking people from those audiences and recruiting them to our side.24
[That is a nutshell is what the "truth" movement con was for--recruiting people from the left to push a Nazi agenda]
 ---------------------------

Why did they participate?

It is a mistake to view these right-wing groups and people as “infiltrating” Occupy, since in some cases they supported and helped organize it even before it started. Others were simply participating in a demonstration that loudly proclaimed that it was open to everyone and refused to define even its most basic concepts or demands.
Yet some on the Right did view their work as intentional co-optation. This is an intrinsic problem with the “franchise activism” model, or the practice of setting up a name and format that anyone can adopt and act under. While it allows for ease of replication and flexibility in action—one of Occupy’s great strengths—it also allows a variety of political visions to be pursued under its banner. For example, almost no mechanisms are available to deem the “imposter” Facebook page as illegitimate in relation to the “real” one.

-----------------------
The point it is not so much that the Left was significantly damaged by the Right’s presence in Occupy—though its presence did open the movement up to attacks in the mainstream media, which wasted the time and effort of organizers while turning off potential supporters. The deeper problem is that right-wing groups benefited from the Left’s willingness to give them a stage to speak from and an audience to recruit from.
[The problem with any "big tent" strategy in a nutshell]

 ----------------------------------------
As a result, the involvement of right-wing groups in Occupy raises questions about the dilemma of creating a movement that is open to “everyone” but must exclude certain elements if it is to avoid becoming a forum for right-wing populist protest. The basic format of the demonstrations—a populist attack on finance capital with ambiguous formulations—harmonized quite well with the political vocabulary and framework of the Right and conspiracy theorists.

-----------------------------------------

Are there any practical steps, then, that activists on the Left can take to minimize participation by the Right?
The administrators at the OccupyWallSt.org forum, the main online location of internal discussions, took one small step after they were deluged by conspiracy theorists and Far Right propagandists. In October 2011, they banned anyone who posted about Icke, LaRouche, Duke, or Jones.31
A more proactive first step would be to endorse an anti-oppression platform at the very start, such as the one created at Occupy Boston. Unlike the relatively vague statement from Zuccotti, Boston’s statement explicitly named the types of oppression that it opposed, including White supremacy, patriarchy, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Arab sentiment, Islamophobia, and anti-Jewish sentiment.32
A member of the Hoosier Anti-Racist Movement pointed out that if such a platform had been in place in Occupy Indianapolis, when racist sentiments were expressed towards people of color, there would have been an existing agreement to point to—and a basis for asking the larger group to intervene—rather than relying on nonexistent cooperation from the majority of the largely White participants. The HARM member also said that if racists had been confronted and expelled from the physical occupation, they likely would not have posted a positive video of their experience, felt welcome to continue to participate in the group’s social media, or written about their warm reception.33 Not taking a proactive stance against antisemitism at Zuccotti led to significant bad press and much time and energy invested—often by Jewish participants—in putting out fires.
