Cointelpro, Wikileaks and 911truth, or 'Why We Know There Are No Agents'

To many it seems obvious the claims of "cointelpro agents" or CIA agents sent to disrupt or stop the "truth from coming out is paranoid conspiracy nonsense, along with "concerns" about the New World Order Illuminati Jews being behind everything.

But if the introduction to a group or email list was based on something much more reasonable--social justice work, peace activism, protesting the war in Iraq-- the idea of is not impossible, though one is unlikely to take it too seriously, at least at first.

The problem is, in the history of real activism, there were government programs funded to infiltrate, and in some cases disrupt, legitimate activist groups.  The American Indian and the civil rights movements are a couple of cases.  The Cointelpro program is a documented example.  The motives were a mix of institutional reactionary conservatism and genuine cultural suspicions of radical new movements, never mind their goals were social justice.  To get an idea of the mentality behind infiltrating peace groups, imagine that most people employed in powerful government positions were Tea Partiers.  There wouldn't be a "Tea Party" because they'd be running the show  and want to keep it that way

Fast forward to today.   The institutional conservatism of yesteryear has crumbled.  Dinosaurs from the pre-civil rights past can no longer depend on being humoured except in the most backward of states.   Even the GOP has all but abandoned the gay rights/marriage "values" battle as not being worth the fight.  But there remains a sizeable population who feels aggrieved, as if recognizing other peoples human rights somehow takes away theirs.   And while these people have no political pull outside of reactionary circles, they do have cash that can be flimflammed out of them by promises to return to the "Good Old Days".

This a political fraud Ron Paul became quite expert at, though he's not the only one.  It has several necessary parts:

1. Scapegoatism.  It almost doesn't matter who the scapegoat starts out as.  Eventually it will be revealed to be "Jews".

2. Appeal to Authority:  claiming to be expert, experienced, in possession of special knowledge.  Which Leads to.

3: Persecution complex  : the reason this knowledge is not well known is because of "distruptors" or "agents" trying to muddle the waters with "disinfo".  Eventually the following question will be asked:

4: Why have "they" not killed off the keeper of secrets? The frauds are still working on this one.   Usually once someone starts asking this question, whether a skeptic or a believer who is having doubts, the person's criticisms are written off as the ravings of an "agent"  out to suppress the truth.

This is a self contained loop.  All problems the believer has are due to a "scapegoat", the "authority" has secret information they dispense that no one knows because they are persecuted by the "scapegoat".  Never mind the all powerful scapegoat makes no move to kill or disrupt the "authoritys" life, or, at the very least, have their websites removed.  Which would be really easy for  "government funded agent" to do.  One fabricated claim of Child Pornography on the servers would do the trick.

This illogic loop keeps people engaged as increasingly more alarming stories of police state repression, often taken out of context (if not outright lies), that are spread to keep the faith.  Religious terminology is being used deliberately, because claims of waking up sheeple to the contrary, the last thing the people benefiting from the truther fraud want is anyone thinking level headed about the issue.

The depressing fact is most people sucked into the conspiracy hoodoo circles take claims of "agents" at face value.  As it is not a default assumption of mine, I have never understood it.  My experience is when people start claiming there are agents etc and they are asked to further explain themselves, or God help them, for proof, things get very very woolly.   If one is approaching 9/11 "truth" from a  historical antiwar perspective, the idea of an agent isn't completely improbable.  But it's also not going to inspire instant paranoia.  On the contrary, if one has no reason to believe they're involved with anything illegal, the idea of catching an agent screwing with my constitutional rights is like Christmas coming early.    It's just a matter of catching them at it.

But it's a long, long road to even taking the idea seriously.  It requires layers of confidence games that are nonsensical at the time, but have one purpose: to convince the few stubborn people "agents" are at work disrupting "truther" activism.

For instance, one party may send a gushing email  thanking the target for "everything they do".  They hope the target engages, shares more information, which is passed on to other members of the con, members the target is either unaware of or has been given to believe the contact disapproves of.  Weeks or months pass.  If the target remains stubborn or becomes problematic in other ways, this information is leaked "anonymously".  Sometimes even the party who had complimented the target abruptly and publicly switches sides.  Others will say pompously: "See, told ya there were agents!"  (Years later all these people will be exposed as working the same con because eventually te piss off the wrong people.  But that's another story.)

This works with disturbing regularity.  The first assumption should not be of agents, but of a con.  Because it doesn't matter if the person is an agent or not;  contacting people under false pretences to manipulate them is fraud.  And fraud...and conspiracy to commit fraud, and using ISP/emails for malicious communications... are all actual crimes.  As Lazo's associate Mark Fisher found out.

And this is why it is my personal belief the Myth of "Agents" in the truth movement is protected at all costs: once it's obvious the so called "agent" activity is a fraud, it will be impossible to control or protect what is left of the "truther" movement.

But even knowing how absurd and unlikely "agents" are, it is still useful to once and for all put the matter at rest:  The reason we know---not suspect, but know-- there are no Cointepro/CIA agents active to disrupt 9/11 truth is because the very merchants of these conspiracies were customers of the CIA affiliate STRATFOR.

In late 2011- early 2012, Wikileaks with Anonymous leaked the customer list of STRATFOR, a private intelligence firm that did work for the CIA.  The lists included names, email addresses and credit card numbers.  STRATFOR denied they had a security breach, but it was all posted at the Dazzlepod site, where anyone could look up their information.

In the last year it was deleted but one can find the home page in wayback.

STRATFOR
cleartext passwords

On December 25, 2011, the Anonymous group hacked into a private intelligence agency, Strategic Forecasting Inc. or STRATFOR, based in Austin, Texas. The attack began with the release of STRATFOR's client list announced at https://twitter.com/#!/AnonymousIRC/status/150679351589998593 followed by release of accounts in batches believed to belong to STRATFOR's customers. The release announced in another Twitter post at https://twitter.com/#!/AnonymousIRC/status/150985258999885824 includes emails, passwords (hashed with MD5), home/office addresses and credit card information (full 16-digit number, expiry date and CVV number). The table below is the list of the leaked accounts with the passwords removed.

STRATFOR has brought down their site following the attack but kept their members posted on the status of the attack via their Facebook page.

UPDATE (January 2, 2012): We have processed all 860,000 STRATFOR's registered users and added them into the table below. These users do not have their credit card information leaked. The earlier accounts with credit card information leaked are now tagged with "cc" in the table below.

This disclosure was mentioned in PCWorld, Forbes, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News and TheBlaze.

UPDATE (December 30, 2011): The Anonymous group has just released the remaining accounts making the total of leaked STRATFOR's accounts with credit card information to a total of approx. 75,000. The table below has been updated to include these accounts. Additionally, login information for approx. 860,000 STRATFOR's registered users have been leaked as well but they don't include credit card information; we may update the table below to include these users later.

At the time, for people who still thought there was something to "trutherism" this was exciting news.  Immediately the trusting and naive started looking for evidence on Wikileaks of an "inside job".  They came up with nothing and slowly decided Wikileaks was "controlled opposition".   For instance, this article implies STRATFOR was "concerned":

Wikileaks email dump shows Stratfor’s Burton concerned about skepticism concerning Osama narrative
Paul Joseph Watson
Infowars.com
Tuesday, March 6, 2012

The deluge of Stratfor.com emails released a result of the recent Wikileaks data dump includes a brief note from Stratfor’s vice president for intelligence Fred Burton in which he urges the U.S. government to show photos of Osama Bin Laden’s corpse in order to silence “lunatics like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck” who had questioned the government’s official narrative behind the death of the terror mastermind....

This was eyerollingly predictable and strained, even to people who still bought "truthersim".  There are only so many times one can claim "cointelpro/controlled opposition/disinfo" before it's a clear mantra to explain away inconvenient facts.  Could it be the reason there was no evidence of an "Inside Job" is that there was no "Inside Job"?

That by itself would be disappointing in the sense of wasting time on something that wasn't real.  But even more troubling was that at least two conspiracy websites that pushed the 911 truth movement, Before it's News and Infowars, knew it wasn't real.  Or at least knew they weren't targets of the CIA or any affiliated agency action.  Because both these websites were STRATFOR customers and listed on dazzlepod...under identifiable email addresses:

It doesn't take much imagination to conceive an activist of any stripe signing up for STRATFOR services to see "what they're up to".  But anyone doing so under their real name and identifiable email address is LYING about being targeted by the CIA or any related intelligence firm.
Yet here are some stories from both sites claiming concern about "agents" and "inflitration".
Zionist agents infiltrating  the Truth Movement
Paranoid garbage about the CIA infiltrating alternative media
Yet oddly considering the CIA a valid source for more conspiracy nonsense

Infowars is just as colorful:

CIA Killed Phillip Marshall for Leaking 9/11 Secrets

and article apparently written by White Power booster Kevin Barrett.

Infowars and Before its News aren't the only ones.  Craig "Killtown" Lazo's Portland group and associates had a ridiculously high percentage of STRATFOR customers, including a woman who was part of a radical radio station who had promoted group events:

Gregory Thomson aka Ozzybinoswald, close friend of Lazo and inventor of conspiracy garbage like Mark Humphrey being the Harley Guy and repeating smoke "fakery".  Ozzy really really wants you to believe "agents" perps and shills exist.

Petros Evdokas, caught having a bizarre convo with Lazo on the Cyprus Indymedia email list.  Really, really wants you to believe he was targeted by the CIA...for reasons.  Was also confronted on Indymedia lists for misrepresenting himself and his circumstances.  In other words, he's a fraud.  Daddy Evdokas was a right wing politician:
The Democratic National Party (Greek: Δημοκρατικό Εθνικό Κόμμα, ΔΕΚ, DEK), was a far-right nationalist political party in Cyprus that advocates union of Cyprus and Greece (Enosis).[1]

This might explain Evdokas' friendship with White Supremacist supporter Kevin Barrett.  Both Evdokas are in the STRATFOR database, but only as persons of political interest.

 4. EVDOKAS, PETER, 16 YEARS, NO. 23 VASALI MICHAELIDES STREET, NICOSIA, PHONE 43665.
 3. FOLLOWING SWEARING IN OF CABINET, MAKARIOS TOLD PRESS THAT "NATIONAL COUNCIL" HAS BEEN SET UP TO ADVISE PRESIDENT ON BROAD POLICY ISSUES. UNIFIED PARTY WILL BE REPRESENTED BY TASSOS PAPA- DOPOULOS, PROGRESSIVE FRONT BY STAVROS POSKOTIS, AKEL BY PARTY LEADER PAPAIOANNOU, EDEK BY LYSSARIDES, AND DEK BY TAKIS EVDOKAS. PRO-ENOSIS ESEA HAS NOT YET NAMED REPRESENTATIVE. CLERIDES IS EX-OFFICIO MEMBER.

Neither of them have been "oppressed".

Theresa Mitchell, aka Presswatch, an associate and booster for Craig Lazo's Portland group.   She's a "reporter" for an alternative(read, crank) radio station called KBOO that started off as genuine alternative media but has fallen victim to cronyism and Tea Party-esque conspiracy woo.  Has several programs endorsing 911 truth and/or bemoaning the suppression of the "truth".  Really, really wants you to believe Right Wing false flag hysteria and in "Cognitive Infiltration".  Soon after the 9/11 attacks Mitchell expressed concern about CIA activities:
For those of you who feel up to an anarcho-syndicalist and historically critical view of current events, stay tuned for the sort of dissent that is tacitly banned from the corporate-owned media. My surprise at the attacks did not stem from the assumption that they would never occurñI was merely shocked, as everyone was, by the sudden and terrifying loss of life. Given the simplicity of the attack, and the gravity of US provocations around the world for decades, it is remarkable that there have been so few major acts of violence on US soil. In the wake of the US destruction of democracy in Iran in 1954, for example, the CIA set up torture dungeons to aid the rule of the US puppet, the Shah. Here I use the word ìtorture dungeonî in a specific sense; the world saw, after the fall of the Shahís regime, that underground prisons had been constructed, in which dissidents were tortured using information passed along by the CIA.
Apparently her misgivings didn't extend to subscriptions with CIA associates.

Most of these people have claimed at one time or another to be targets of the CIA/COINTELPRO/Agents  and yet they somehow didn't have the foresight to use a burner email account when registering with a business affiliate of the CIA.

The Gentleman's Guide To Forum Spies ... This brings the unrelated postings to the top of the forum list, and the critical posting 'slides' down ...
This is a redirect to this posting.  Maybe the person posted it really believed it, but clearly the people running Mises don't.

And neither does Webster Tarpley.  He's got one article about "How to identify a CIA limited Hanghout".  But the most priceless one is accusing Wikileaks of being Cognitive Infiltration.  I'd suspect this was revenge for the Anonymous STRATFOR leak, except this article was published 9 months too soon.  In any case, the most suspicious omission from Tarpley's website is any mention of STRATFOR  after the customer email list was leaked.

Any real activist who knew about STRATFOR would know the business they were in and take a basic precaution of using a fake email.   The fact none of these people used a burner account indicates they all KNEW the conspiracy of 911 and their persecution by or concern about agents was a lie.

The anticipated fall-back position will be :  "That proves THEY are the agents!  Duh!"

Hmm, no.  A real agent would use separate emails to communicate with an "agency" and the people they were "disrupting".   To not do so would get them fired.  These people are reckless amateurs, displaying the usual arrogance of Libertarian/patriot conspiracy frauds thinking they'd never be caught.  You'd think they'd learn after the nth time Anonymous/antifa/ara leaked their emails...

So why did they subscribe to STRATFOR's services?  One probable reason is if you're trying to dupe people into believing a worldwide conspiracy and you claim to have special knowledge, it's really helpful if you do have some privy information to impress the rubes.    Someone with that type of access could hot read rubes all day long.  Who knows, maybe that's how Alex Jones made his fortune.
The point is , by using identifiable emails to subscribe to a CIA affiliated service, these people prove they know they are NOT targets of the CIA.   Therefore their claims of agents/disruptors are lies.   Since this is their basis of proof that a 911 "Inside Job" truth is being suppressed, one can also conclude, since they know these agents don't exist, there is no 9/11 conspiracy for any agents to suppress.

This may seem backwards from the obvious observation outside the conspiracy culture: that there are no agents because there is no conspiracy, but remember it's these individuals who worked overtime, with a variety of confidence games, to convince people "agents were out there".     By subscribing to services with STRATFOR,  a corporation who works closely with the CIA, they showed they never believed in agents or the conspiracy except as a means to defraud people.

The reason there are no agents is because "Trutherism" is a fraud and there is nothing to "suppress".  And the leaders who invented the truther theories knew it. I patiently await the day they all end up in federal prison. It wouldn't be the first time for some of these political frauds.

The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street

Anti facists have been passing this article around that details elements of OWS and the mechanisms of "infiltration" from fringe right groups.  Except that it's less infiltration after the fact and more they had their people in the planning groups from day one.   It's not as blatent a scam as the truth movement, but the elements are there:  let's build an ostensible progressive grassroots movement, the liberals will come, and we'll promote our sleazy agenda under the cover they give.

Not everyone was fooled, as one anarchist expounds, but enough people got caught up to make one cynical about the next allegedly leftist revolutionary movement.

One note of caution: the website Political Research, was a haunt of Chip Berlet, who was almost certainly in on the Kennebunkport Hoax.   Mr. Berlet was oddly defensive when asked any questions about how he even knew about the hoax, and one owner of the SLC blog with a record of dishonest conduct was rather quick to push Tarpley's frame, that people were getting money from Berlet and the Ford Foundation.   It seems Berlet's association with Political Research Associates has ended, so that's something.

Excerpts relevant to the "truth movement" fraud are quotes below.  Read the entire article at the following link:  http://www.politicalresearch.org/2014/02/23/the-right-hand-of-occupy-wall-street-from-libertarians-to-nazis-the-fact-and-fiction-of-right-wing-involvement/#

The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street: From Libertarians to Nazis, the Fact and Fiction of Right-Wing Involvement

Spencer Sunshine, Ph.D. (associate fellow) is a researcher and activist. His research interests include U.S. white nationalism, post-war fascism (particularly Third Position and European New Right politics), left/right crossover movements, and left-wing antisemitism. As an activist he has worked on issues regarding anti-fascism, police misconduct, prisoner rights, global trade agreements, environmental issues, and bisexual and queer politics. Follow him on Twitter at @transform6789.
The most successful mobilization on the Left in recent years—the Occupy movement—had ambiguously defined enemies and used an organizing model that was easily replicated. These strategies were key elements of its success, but they also enabled a significant level of participation by the Right. Though it is tempting to gloss over or deny that reality, the Left would benefit from beginning to grapple with it.

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) has often been portrayed as the Tea Party’s ideological mirror image: a left-wing response to the global economic crises that began in August 2007. Initiated with a tent city in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park in mid-September 2011, spinoff “Occupations” soon spread across the United States and then to cities across the globe. These protests, which targeted the federal government’s cozy relationship with the banking interests that caused the economic collapse, channeled the mounting anger of those most devastated by the economic meltdown, especially debt-ridden students, the unemployed, and people who lost homes in the subprime mortgage crisis.
But this mainstream-media view tends to gloss over the involvement of right-wing and conspiracist groups in Occupy. In the perception of many participants, the Right’s presence was largely limited to a lone homeless man who paraded antisemitic signs around Zuccotti, which became the basis of a right-wing “smear” campaign. More recently, venture capitalists like Tom Perkins have slandered Occupy, absurdly comparing its attack on wealth inequality to the Nazi persecution of Jews.1 Because of this, many progressives plug their ears when they hear about right-wing groups and Occupy. (In this essay, OWS refers to the New York City occupation, while Occupy refers to the movement in general.)
Certainly, Occupy was always a largely left-leaning event. But right-wing participation has been the norm rather than the exception within recent left-wing U.S. movements—including the antiglobalization, antiwar, environmental, and animal rights movements—and Occupy was no exception.2 Right-wing groups inserted their narrative about the Federal Reserve into the movement’s visible politics; used Occupy’s open-ended structure to disseminate conspiracy theories (antisemitic and otherwise) and White nationalism; promoted unfettered capitalism; and gained experience, skills, and political confidence as organizers in a mass movement that, on the whole, allowed their participation.
Ideally, none of these things should have happened. Advocates for social justice need to assess the motivations, extent, and substance of right-wing participation in Occupy—just as has been done with past movements. Despite the painful feelings it might evoke, it is time for this process to start.

The problem of finance capital and ambiguous enemies

The original call for OWS from Adbusters magazine said the demonstrators themselves would decide on the “one demand” of the occupation, but this never materialized. Instead, the eminently populist slogan “We are the 99%” became their rallying cry. The one percent—often assumed to be those whose household incomes were over $500,000—was obviously associated with “Wall Street,” the focus of the demonstration.3 But many people with that kind of income were not associated with Wall Street at all. And, in any case, what exactly was Wall Street: the New York Stock Exchange? Banks? Bankers? Global corporations? The Federal Reserve? And who were the one percent: Crony capitalists specifically? Capitalists generally? The rich? Political elites? The Bilderberg Group? The Rothschild family? Jews? Or—as one popular conspiracy theorist had it—our reptilian overlords?

---------------------------------------

But in addition to this general, populist appeal for uniting the people against the elites, there was one specific piece of common ground. While few right-wing actors see capitalism as a system to be abolished, many are harsh critics of finance capital, especially in its international form. This critique unites antisemites, who believe that Jews run Wall Street; libertarian “free marketers,” who see the Federal Reserve as their enemy; and advocates of “producerist” narratives, who want “productive national capital” (such as manufacturing and agriculture) to be cleaved from “international finance capital” (the global banking system and free-trade agreements).

----------------------------------------------

In Occupy the most common demand of the various right-wing and conspiracy groups—especially those who openly called for Left-Right unity—was for the abolition of the Federal Reserve. Whether this is an issue actually shared by the Left, or just an attempt to get the Left to support right-wing policies, is another question.
---------------------------------------------------------

The initial controversy over antisemitism

The Right’s participation was far from limited to a handful of antisemites, but it is nonetheless true that Occupy’s attacks on finance capital attracted many of them, since such attacks were easily integrated into their fantasies of Jews controlling the banking industry. (Rather than explicitly naming Jews as the villain, antisemites often instead demonize a subgroup that they identify as Jewish, such as Zionists, international bankers, neoconservatives, “the Frankfurt School”—or Wall Street.)
Adbusters, the magazine that initially sparked OWS, has an especially troublesome past. Its editor and co-founder, Kalle Lasn, published an article in 2004 criticizing neoconservatives by invoking numerous antisemitic narratives. The article included a list of prominent neoconservatives with marks next to the Jewish names. Responding to widespread criticism, Lasn denied that he was antisemitic but showed no understanding of why the narrative of the article was offensive. More recently, the magazine has published articles by antisemitic writer and musician Gilad Atzmon.5 This certainly raises the question of whether Adbusters’s choice of Wall Street as a target may have been shaped by narratives influenced by antisemitism.
Some mainstream right-wing media attempted to discredit OWS as being primarily antisemitic from the outset.

-----------------------------------

The result was that many Occupy protestors on the Left felt that they were being unfairly “smeared” as antisemites by the mainstream Right in an attempt to discredit the movement as a whole, and, furthermore, that these claims were without merit.9 This fear of subversion created an atmosphere of denial and a general consensus that there was no involvement in Occupy by those further to the Right than Ron Paul.
Right-wing and conspiracist participation in Occupy was nonetheless real, and it involved more than 20 groups, prominent figures, and media outlets. These included Ron Paul supporters, Alex Jones, Oath Keepers, David Icke, We Are Change, Tea Party members, National-Anarchists, Attack the System, the Pacifica Forum, American Free Press, LaRouchites, Counter-Currents, the American Freedom Party, American Front, David Duke, the American Nazi Party, White Revolution, and others. (A detailed account of their participation is available separately in my essay, “Twenty on the Right in Occupy.”)10 Their involvement included attending planning meetings, taking part in the encampments, making appeals directed to the Occupiers, and co-opting online resources. They fell into four overlapping categories: anti-Federal Reserve activists, conspiracy theorists, antisemites, and White nationalists/neo Nazis.

------------------------------

The “End the Fed!” factor and the conspiracy theorists

As Occupy Wall Street burgeoned, Ron Paul was campaigning for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Although there was no obvious mechanism organizing their participation, Paulists were at the OWS planning meetings, and they remained a fixture in the movement and appeared at almost all Occupations, though they were usually a small but vocal minority.

 --------------------------------

The ambiguity of Occupy attracted a substantial number of Paul’s supporters, who in turn attracted a fair amount of media coverage for themselves. They gained general traction within Occupy because of their objection to the Federal Reserve’s bailout of the major banks after the financial collapse, and sometimes focused on its role in the subprime mortgage crisis. Counterintuitively for many, the lesson of the crisis for Paulists was the need for less—not more—federal involvement in the banking system.
Many others who wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve also became involved in Occupy; most supported Paul’s candidacy. Alex Jones, one of the most popular U.S. conspiracy theorists (although not a consistent supporter of Occupy), attempted to crash the movement by calling for a national event on Oct. 6, 2011, to “Occupy the Fed.” Jones said that, contrary to media portrayals of Occupy as left-leaning, “The people on the ground … understand the Federal Reserve is the central organization empowering this world government system. This is a revolt against banker occupation.”12
At the same time, the Oath Keepers organization, in concert with Jones and others, concocted a national push to insert “End the Fed!” rhetoric into Occupy under a call to “Occupy the Occupation!” (Oath Keepers, which holds armed marches, recruits current and former military and law enforcement employees who swear to “uphold the Constitution,” and is driven by conspiracies about the coming One World Government.) It also helped establish an encampment in Occupy Los Angeles and attempted to recruit there.13
Another Fed critic was David Icke, known for his metaconspiracy theory that the global elite are descendants of reptilian aliens who seek to enslave humanity—a story that weaves in classic antisemitic narratives. His “Essential Knowledge For A Wall Street Protestor” video, which promotes anti-Federal Reserve and related economic conspiracies, has about 350,000 views. He also made an hour-long “ad-lib documentary” in Zuccotti Park just after the encampment was evicted by authorities.14 Icke’s followers were active in both U.S. and U.K. Occupations.
Other conspiracists who worked in Occupy include We Are Change (WAC), an international 9/11 “Truther” group. Luke Rudkowski, the group’s founder, is a prolific video blogger and is well-known for his paparazzi-style interviews. On site at OWS from the first day, he did extensive video coverage at Zuccotti Park and is also featured in David Icke’s videos.
Members of WAC New York City, a splinter faction, were also active in OWS, including Danny Panzella, a Tea Party activist who ran for state office in 2010. Even before OWS, Panzella organized demonstrations against the downtown Manhattan Federal Reserve, and he worked hard to refocus Occupy on an “End the Fed!” agenda. He appeared on the Fox News show Freedom Watch, in one of a number of the show’s broadcasts that encouraged libertarians to attend Occupy events.15 Other members of the group who worked with OWS included Craig FitzGerald, a “National-Anarchist” who promotes Holocaust denial and endorses White separatism.

------------------------------

Online, antisemites have continued to be connected to Occupy projects. The most popular is an imposter Facebook page that mimics the “real” main one—and posts blatantly antisemitic content. It has attracted nearly 650,000 followers. (By contrast, the page affiliated with the organization that arose from the Zuccotti encampment has fewer than 500,000 followers.) It is unclear who the secretive administrators of the imposter site are, or why it became so popular. Attempts to remove it have so far been unsuccessful.17
One of the Far Right’s most enthusiastic Occupy champions was the American Free Press, an antisemitic weekly newspaper that is heir to Willis Carto’s media empire. It promoted Occupy even before the initial action, and for months it printed numerous articles supporting the movement, including firsthand reporting from various Occupations.18
Lyndon LaRouche’s Far Right sect was initially involved in OWS. It has long pushed for restoring Glass-Steagall, a New Deal-era act that limited the kinds of investments that banks could make, which was repealed in the late 1990s. Many believe that it would have prevented the housing crisis had it remained in effect. During Occupy, two bills were in Congressional committee that would have restored its provisions, and it was a priority for many Occupy protestors on the Left, as well. LaRouche’s followers were active in the OWS planning meetings, where Glass-Steagall’s restoration was one of six initial proposals for the never-realized “one demand.”19 LaRouche’s organization even claimed credit for making its reinstatement “a leading demand of the movement.”20 Staff at Counter-Currents, a leading U.S. publisher of intellectual fascism and White nationalism, claimed to have attended the San Francisco and Oakland occupations, and they described the events as a valuable experience
---------------------------------

The most prominent figure on the Far Right to endorse Occupy was David Duke, a former Republican state representative from Louisiana and an elder statesman of the U.S. White nationalist movement. In a video from October 2011, “Occupy Zionist Wall Street,” Duke denounced the “Zionist thieves at the Federal Reserve” and “the most powerful criminal bank in the world, the Zionist Goldman Sachs, run by that vulture-nosed bottom feeder, Lloyd Blankfein.” The video has received more than 100,000 views to date. Duke later wrote on the White supremacist web forum Stormfront that “OWS is an opportunity. … Grab this opportunity!”22
White nationalists also participated in some of the movement’s less high-profile iterations, such as Occupy Indianapolis (OI). Matt Parrott of Hoosier Nation—the local branch of the White nationalist American Third Position Party, now called the American Freedom Party—attended OI, and made a video interviewing participants. He wrote: “Our experience was peaceful and positive, affirming my suspicion that the majority of the Occupy Indianapolis attendees were fed up with the same corporate and federal abuses the majority of the Tea Party protesters are fed up with.”23 His colleague “Tristania” [Nazi lover and Libertarian operative Jaenelle Antas] posted a comment on Stormfront saying that “it was a very good opportunity for outreach” and that “it’s about cherry picking people from those audiences and recruiting them to our side.24
[That is a nutshell is what the "truth" movement con was for--recruiting people from the left to push a Nazi agenda]
 ---------------------------

Why did they participate?

It is a mistake to view these right-wing groups and people as “infiltrating” Occupy, since in some cases they supported and helped organize it even before it started. Others were simply participating in a demonstration that loudly proclaimed that it was open to everyone and refused to define even its most basic concepts or demands.
Yet some on the Right did view their work as intentional co-optation. This is an intrinsic problem with the “franchise activism” model, or the practice of setting up a name and format that anyone can adopt and act under. While it allows for ease of replication and flexibility in action—one of Occupy’s great strengths—it also allows a variety of political visions to be pursued under its banner. For example, almost no mechanisms are available to deem the “imposter” Facebook page as illegitimate in relation to the “real” one.

-----------------------
The point it is not so much that the Left was significantly damaged by the Right’s presence in Occupy—though its presence did open the movement up to attacks in the mainstream media, which wasted the time and effort of organizers while turning off potential supporters. The deeper problem is that right-wing groups benefited from the Left’s willingness to give them a stage to speak from and an audience to recruit from.
[The problem with any "big tent" strategy in a nutshell]

 ----------------------------------------
As a result, the involvement of right-wing groups in Occupy raises questions about the dilemma of creating a movement that is open to “everyone” but must exclude certain elements if it is to avoid becoming a forum for right-wing populist protest. The basic format of the demonstrations—a populist attack on finance capital with ambiguous formulations—harmonized quite well with the political vocabulary and framework of the Right and conspiracy theorists.

-----------------------------------------

Are there any practical steps, then, that activists on the Left can take to minimize participation by the Right?
The administrators at the OccupyWallSt.org forum, the main online location of internal discussions, took one small step after they were deluged by conspiracy theorists and Far Right propagandists. In October 2011, they banned anyone who posted about Icke, LaRouche, Duke, or Jones.31
A more proactive first step would be to endorse an anti-oppression platform at the very start, such as the one created at Occupy Boston. Unlike the relatively vague statement from Zuccotti, Boston’s statement explicitly named the types of oppression that it opposed, including White supremacy, patriarchy, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Arab sentiment, Islamophobia, and anti-Jewish sentiment.32
A member of the Hoosier Anti-Racist Movement pointed out that if such a platform had been in place in Occupy Indianapolis, when racist sentiments were expressed towards people of color, there would have been an existing agreement to point to—and a basis for asking the larger group to intervene—rather than relying on nonexistent cooperation from the majority of the largely White participants. The HARM member also said that if racists had been confronted and expelled from the physical occupation, they likely would not have posted a positive video of their experience, felt welcome to continue to participate in the group’s social media, or written about their warm reception.33 Not taking a proactive stance against antisemitism at Zuccotti led to significant bad press and much time and energy invested—often by Jewish participants—in putting out fires.

It's painful to watch people again and again fail to get the obvious:  911 "Truth" is a far right con.  So it's no surprise the person  behind 28pages.org is yet another "Freedom, Liberty, Constitution"  Paulbot.  Ron Paul wrote the book on selling political cons for years and making millions to boot.

28pages.org is the website of  Ron Paul fanatic Brian McGlinchey.   He promotes it at Facebook on his LibertyMcG page:

Presumably in an attempt to obfuscate the fringe right origins, McG has wasted no time wooing a misguided "truther" into the 28pages orbit:

28Pages.org Thanks to Jon Gold for capturing the CSPAN broadcast. His channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC66YC8HKheNZC5NTTLZq3yg

This soon after foolishly jumping onto this scamwagon with both feet:

If and when the 28 redacted pages of the Joint Congressional Inquiry are released, and people in our Government try to use those pages as an excuse to go to war with Saudi Arabia (which I don't think they can do since Saudi Arabia owns a large portion of this country), we will need to make sure the whole history of the relationship between Saudi Arabia and those two hijackers in San Diego is known, that the whole history of the CIA seemingly protecting those two hijackers in San Diego is known, that one of the first things Bush did when he came into office was to tell the alphabet agencies to "back off" the Saudis and the Bin Ladens, that we have protected Saudi Arabia's support for terrorism since long before 9/11, that the Bush Family, George Tenet and Prince Bandar were really good friends (money connected to those two hijackers in San Diego came from the Bandar family), that George W. Bush and Bandar were talking about the need for "decisive action" in Iraq in the months before 9/11, that Bandar said Saudi intelligence was following most of the hijackers "with precision," that Philip Zelikow and Prince Bandar both belong to the Aspen Strategy Group, that the Consulate in Jeddah where some of the hijackers got their Visas was the same consulate used in the 80's to bring "terrorists" to the U.S. to train for the Afghanistan/Russia War, that the VIsa Express Program, a program used by some of the hijackers to get visas, applied only to Saudi Arabia and was started months before 9/11. Stuff like that…

Any doubts about 28pages.org being a fringe extremist astroturf project should be demolished by this post at the Daily Paul:

28Pages.org: "Because Foreign Government Involvement in 9/11 Shouldn't Stay Secret"

New site launched as a "resource for the growing movement to declassify a 28-page finding about foreign government involvement in 9/11"...
Foreign Government Involvement in 9/11 Shouldn’t Stay Secret
And that’s why we’ve launched 28Pages.org. More than a website, it will serve as an information and activism hub for citizens, elected officials and journalists who want to follow or join the growing, bipartisan movement to declassify a 28-page finding about foreign support for the 9/11 terrorists.
The 28-page redaction at issue is found in the report of the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001. Not to be confused with the 9/11 Commission, this inquiry was a separate undertaking of the House and Senate intelligence committees.
While the resulting 838-page volume features many redacted words, sentences and paragraphs, President George W. Bush’s censorship of this particular section was comprehensive: 28 consecutive pages fully masked from public view, with only a few introductory paragraphs left intact. Within what little that is visible, we find the inquiry reviewed “FBI and CIA documents suggesting specific potential sources of foreign support for the September 11 hijackers.”
Check out the site and read the rest of this intro at 28Pages.org :
http://28pages.org/2014/07/17/foreign-government-involvement...
There is no "growing movement".  It's the same pool of fringe reactionary loons that brought us the Y2K scare and invented the "Truth" movement. For instance the Facebook page has a total of 25 likes at this time.

This swindle is aimed at a very small slice of the Facebook community.  For comparison NARAL ProChoice Texas  has 8,100 likes.   Granted, they've been around longer and have more chapters, but if the conspiracy scam ringmasters can't rally more that 25 of the Alex Jones/Icke troops after a week, maybe it's time to throw in the towel.

Any doubts about McGlinchey's Libertarian DNA should be
dispelled with this photo with racist loon Ron Paul:

McGlinchey isn't the first Libertarian to plug the "truther" con.

[See: Lew Rockwell and Craig "Killtown" Lazo.

]

Sadly it doesn't look like he'll be the last.

Maybe there's something to these 28pages legitimate authorities should investigate.

But it's more likely, given Libertarian "truther" history, the agenda behind the 28pages.org website is to keep the "truther" con alive and/or promote the anti-Semite, anti government, conspiracy worldview fringe right political interests have exploited for decades.

Viva la Madness!

Update:  Mild hilarity can be had at the expense websites run by frauds, pretending to disparage each other ...

Wow. Didn't think you could so easily top yourself. My statement that I am lobbying to have you demoted is not a threat as the statement is it's own action. What I said is already lobbying.
I'd also point out that I find your use of the term threat and suggestion that I make threats to be totally inappropriate and far beyond acceptable behavior for comments on this site. Who among us does everything we hope to do? I'm quite sure I haven't delivered on every promise. But "threats" are something else and you should know that.
Your behavior here further confirms my concern about your moderation. Or perhaps you need a break. Maybe you are burnt out just like anyone who really cares about this can be. Maybe you need to re-evaluate your position and get back to me, or rather us.
I don't 'believe' this stuff. I've learned how it works. Good strategy is not opinion but historical fact. The history of social movements and the history of this movement. Some things don't work and I do not intend to accept you laughing at me because I know what does. That's a direct act of ignorance, and it has no place in a movement about truth.

The Truth Movement and Loose Change: Selling Faux Legitimacy

This is important to note as a matter of record: the people from the far fringe right who founded and promoted the 9/11 "Truth" Movement went out of their way to appeal to the public and recruit persons to sell the "movement" as legit.  Public appeal would reach its apex through "Loose Change" and the three personalities recruited and/or manipulated to push it:  Dylan Avery, Jason Bermas and Korey Rowe.

There is much misguided anger directed at the Loose Change producers that would be better directed at Macromedia and the many interests who funded and egged on the trio. They've been called "traitors" and worse by pro-Bush debunkers, honest or otherwise.  An entire blog was dedicated to supposedly debunking the flawed facts in the film.  Years later, long after Loose Change has faded from public eye, the blog is still going allegedly exposing "truther" lies, but actually acting as platform for the same lies it claims to be exposing.  SLC purpose has always appeared to be a glorified gossip column trying to pass itself off as independent journalism.  It was easy to get legitimacy by mocking Loose Change; since then few who praised the blog in it's early days have revisited the site for an honest reappraisal.

Even  rabid fans of the blog expressed wonder about the blog owners giving a platform to extremists:

I suppose if one equates "interesting" garbage spam pushing a fraud with real journalism.

Hindsight being what it is, it's obvious "ewing" was a patsy in an elaborate fraud, his crazy act encouraged as a distraction.   For all it's 15 minutes of fame popular appeal "Loose Change" was never the problem, per se.  It was a symptom, or the latest reiteration of a problem: right extremists looking for new markets to sell New World Order woo, in this case one packaged and pitched to the anti war crowd.

"The Almond"; at JREF sums up the political climate of the time succinctly:

  8th October 2010, 05:18 AM
 The Almond

Perhaps more than you realize. In 2005~2006, when the 9/11 conspiracy theories were starting to become popular, many people thought it was a legitimate movement. By legitimate, I mean, news agencies and the public believed that a large, diverse group of people had conducted honest, thoughtful research and had realized that a conspiracy existed. This perception caused many people to see Loose Change (made by Bermas and Avery), and give the Truth movement the benefit of the doubt.

Of course, the first thing that was clear in 2006 was that this largely internet based fad was full of 3 groups of people:

1) Disaffected teenagers and 20-somethings who had nothing better to do
2) Neo-nazis, holocaust deniers
3) The insane, chronically uninformed or gullible

This little recent tidbit once again confirms what we've been saying for the past 4 years: The Truth movement is not a group of concerned citizens from all walks of life who are united by a logically consistent, evidence informed point of view. Rather, they're a loose agglomeration of disaffected 20-somethings, and when you step out of the internet reality they've created, they're living in their mom's basement, sucking down cheetos and wishing they were more popular and interesting.

The only point of contention I find with Almond's post is there should be four, not three categories.  By definition, if the anti-war public perceived a legitimate movement, some of them would join, making a fourth group:

4) Anit-war/anti Bush activists duped, for however long, by the previous three groups.
This last group is where most of the responsible truthers came from and why most of them are gone: once it was clear the movement refused to denounce the Holocaust denier/Nazis types, it was a short trip to the painful eye-opener that the Movement was always about pushing far right racist propaganda.  The anti-war hook was a sham to build a base.  "Loose Change" was a handy vehicle to support that sham.

It won't end well.

Scholars for 9/11 Truth: 2006 Members List

This list dates from April 2006.  It was hosted for years at this link until evidence of the scam started to leak out and someone thought it prudent to "pull it".
[UPDATE:  most of these people can still be found listed as current members at this URL:
 www.scholarsfor911truth.org/21-2
Even years after claiming to have left or no association....]

http://www.scholarsfor911truth.org/WhoAreWe.html

Please be aware not all the people on the list are necessarily part of the "Truth" con.  But enough of them are that this can act as a reality check in future attempts to promote the "truth" con.   Many of these people have since been connected to various scams, cult organizations, the White Power movement and the racist far-right political fringe.

Leaving the obvious Larouche cult cases like Phil Berg and Webster Tarpley, there's James Arft of the America First Party:

The America First Party is a paleoconservative third party in the United States.
The party was formed on April 15, 2002 when a group of Pat Buchanan supporters left the Reform Party. The party is pro-life, opposes all gun control, seeks to end affirmative action, racial quotas, and illegal and unlimited immigration. Buchanan himself has never publicly professed any affiliation with the party, though his books are for sale on the party's website "[A]utographed... specially for the Party".[1] The AFP has attracted individuals such as former Boston mayor and ambassador to the Vatican Raymond Flynn and former John Birch Society president John McManus. The party's web page shows recent press releases and articles on current issues which showcase the organization's positions. Until February 2010, the AFP also published a 12-page newspaper which illustrated its policy positions and focused on current problems in government.
Uh huh.  I know for a fact this was kept quiet in my presence.   And these people had the nerve to recruit from the left.  How's that working out?

Scholars for 9/11 Truth" (S9/11T) is a non-partisan association of faculty, students, and scholars, in fields as diverse as history, science, military affairs, psychology, and philosophy, dedicated to exposing falsehoods and to revealing truths behind 9/11.

The members of S9/11T are encouraged to take an active role by devoting themselves to reporting the results of research on 9/11 to the nation and the world by means of lectures, articles, and other venues.

S9/11T members are convinced their research proves the current administration has been dishonest about what happened in New York and Washington, D.C.
These experts contend that books and articles by members and other associates have established that the World Trade Center was almost certainly brought down by controlled demolitions and that the available relevant evidence casts grave doubt on the government's official story about the attack on the Pentagon.
They believe that the government not only permitted 9/11 to occur but may even have orchestrated these events to facilitate its political agenda.

S9/11T encourages its members to vigorously express their concerns on this score through lectures, conferences, symposia, articles, and books as well as other access routes that publicize their findings.

Founded by professors Jim Fetzer and Steven Jones, S9/11T is devoted to applying the principles of scientific reasoning to the available evidence, "letting the chips fall where they may".

Currently, S9/11T has four categories of members: full members (FM), who have or have had academic appointments or the equivalent; associate members (AM), who have backgrounds and interests relevant to 9/11 research; and student members (SM), who are concerned about these issues and want to pursue them.
