The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street

Anti facists have been passing this article around that details elements of OWS and the mechanisms of "infiltration" from fringe right groups.  Except that it's less infiltration after the fact and more they had their people in the planning groups from day one.   It's not as blatent a scam as the truth movement, but the elements are there:  let's build an ostensible progressive grassroots movement, the liberals will come, and we'll promote our sleazy agenda under the cover they give.

Not everyone was fooled, as one anarchist expounds, but enough people got caught up to make one cynical about the next allegedly leftist revolutionary movement.

One note of caution: the website Political Research, was a haunt of Chip Berlet, who was almost certainly in on the Kennebunkport Hoax.   Mr. Berlet was oddly defensive when asked any questions about how he even knew about the hoax, and one owner of the SLC blog with a record of dishonest conduct was rather quick to push Tarpley's frame, that people were getting money from Berlet and the Ford Foundation.   It seems Berlet's association with Political Research Associates has ended, so that's something.

Excerpts relevant to the "truth movement" fraud are quotes below.  Read the entire article at the following link:  http://www.politicalresearch.org/2014/02/23/the-right-hand-of-occupy-wall-street-from-libertarians-to-nazis-the-fact-and-fiction-of-right-wing-involvement/#

The Right Hand of Occupy Wall Street: From Libertarians to Nazis, the Fact and Fiction of Right-Wing Involvement

Spencer Sunshine, Ph.D. (associate fellow) is a researcher and activist. His research interests include U.S. white nationalism, post-war fascism (particularly Third Position and European New Right politics), left/right crossover movements, and left-wing antisemitism. As an activist he has worked on issues regarding anti-fascism, police misconduct, prisoner rights, global trade agreements, environmental issues, and bisexual and queer politics. Follow him on Twitter at @transform6789.
The most successful mobilization on the Left in recent years—the Occupy movement—had ambiguously defined enemies and used an organizing model that was easily replicated. These strategies were key elements of its success, but they also enabled a significant level of participation by the Right. Though it is tempting to gloss over or deny that reality, the Left would benefit from beginning to grapple with it.

Occupy Wall Street (OWS) has often been portrayed as the Tea Party’s ideological mirror image: a left-wing response to the global economic crises that began in August 2007. Initiated with a tent city in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park in mid-September 2011, spinoff “Occupations” soon spread across the United States and then to cities across the globe. These protests, which targeted the federal government’s cozy relationship with the banking interests that caused the economic collapse, channeled the mounting anger of those most devastated by the economic meltdown, especially debt-ridden students, the unemployed, and people who lost homes in the subprime mortgage crisis.
But this mainstream-media view tends to gloss over the involvement of right-wing and conspiracist groups in Occupy. In the perception of many participants, the Right’s presence was largely limited to a lone homeless man who paraded antisemitic signs around Zuccotti, which became the basis of a right-wing “smear” campaign. More recently, venture capitalists like Tom Perkins have slandered Occupy, absurdly comparing its attack on wealth inequality to the Nazi persecution of Jews.1 Because of this, many progressives plug their ears when they hear about right-wing groups and Occupy. (In this essay, OWS refers to the New York City occupation, while Occupy refers to the movement in general.)
Certainly, Occupy was always a largely left-leaning event. But right-wing participation has been the norm rather than the exception within recent left-wing U.S. movements—including the antiglobalization, antiwar, environmental, and animal rights movements—and Occupy was no exception.2 Right-wing groups inserted their narrative about the Federal Reserve into the movement’s visible politics; used Occupy’s open-ended structure to disseminate conspiracy theories (antisemitic and otherwise) and White nationalism; promoted unfettered capitalism; and gained experience, skills, and political confidence as organizers in a mass movement that, on the whole, allowed their participation.
Ideally, none of these things should have happened. Advocates for social justice need to assess the motivations, extent, and substance of right-wing participation in Occupy—just as has been done with past movements. Despite the painful feelings it might evoke, it is time for this process to start.

The problem of finance capital and ambiguous enemies

The original call for OWS from Adbusters magazine said the demonstrators themselves would decide on the “one demand” of the occupation, but this never materialized. Instead, the eminently populist slogan “We are the 99%” became their rallying cry. The one percent—often assumed to be those whose household incomes were over $500,000—was obviously associated with “Wall Street,” the focus of the demonstration.3 But many people with that kind of income were not associated with Wall Street at all. And, in any case, what exactly was Wall Street: the New York Stock Exchange? Banks? Bankers? Global corporations? The Federal Reserve? And who were the one percent: Crony capitalists specifically? Capitalists generally? The rich? Political elites? The Bilderberg Group? The Rothschild family? Jews? Or—as one popular conspiracy theorist had it—our reptilian overlords?

---------------------------------------

But in addition to this general, populist appeal for uniting the people against the elites, there was one specific piece of common ground. While few right-wing actors see capitalism as a system to be abolished, many are harsh critics of finance capital, especially in its international form. This critique unites antisemites, who believe that Jews run Wall Street; libertarian “free marketers,” who see the Federal Reserve as their enemy; and advocates of “producerist” narratives, who want “productive national capital” (such as manufacturing and agriculture) to be cleaved from “international finance capital” (the global banking system and free-trade agreements).

----------------------------------------------

In Occupy the most common demand of the various right-wing and conspiracy groups—especially those who openly called for Left-Right unity—was for the abolition of the Federal Reserve. Whether this is an issue actually shared by the Left, or just an attempt to get the Left to support right-wing policies, is another question.
---------------------------------------------------------

The initial controversy over antisemitism

The Right’s participation was far from limited to a handful of antisemites, but it is nonetheless true that Occupy’s attacks on finance capital attracted many of them, since such attacks were easily integrated into their fantasies of Jews controlling the banking industry. (Rather than explicitly naming Jews as the villain, antisemites often instead demonize a subgroup that they identify as Jewish, such as Zionists, international bankers, neoconservatives, “the Frankfurt School”—or Wall Street.)
Adbusters, the magazine that initially sparked OWS, has an especially troublesome past. Its editor and co-founder, Kalle Lasn, published an article in 2004 criticizing neoconservatives by invoking numerous antisemitic narratives. The article included a list of prominent neoconservatives with marks next to the Jewish names. Responding to widespread criticism, Lasn denied that he was antisemitic but showed no understanding of why the narrative of the article was offensive. More recently, the magazine has published articles by antisemitic writer and musician Gilad Atzmon.5 This certainly raises the question of whether Adbusters’s choice of Wall Street as a target may have been shaped by narratives influenced by antisemitism.
Some mainstream right-wing media attempted to discredit OWS as being primarily antisemitic from the outset.

-----------------------------------

The result was that many Occupy protestors on the Left felt that they were being unfairly “smeared” as antisemites by the mainstream Right in an attempt to discredit the movement as a whole, and, furthermore, that these claims were without merit.9 This fear of subversion created an atmosphere of denial and a general consensus that there was no involvement in Occupy by those further to the Right than Ron Paul.
Right-wing and conspiracist participation in Occupy was nonetheless real, and it involved more than 20 groups, prominent figures, and media outlets. These included Ron Paul supporters, Alex Jones, Oath Keepers, David Icke, We Are Change, Tea Party members, National-Anarchists, Attack the System, the Pacifica Forum, American Free Press, LaRouchites, Counter-Currents, the American Freedom Party, American Front, David Duke, the American Nazi Party, White Revolution, and others. (A detailed account of their participation is available separately in my essay, “Twenty on the Right in Occupy.”)10 Their involvement included attending planning meetings, taking part in the encampments, making appeals directed to the Occupiers, and co-opting online resources. They fell into four overlapping categories: anti-Federal Reserve activists, conspiracy theorists, antisemites, and White nationalists/neo Nazis.

------------------------------

The “End the Fed!” factor and the conspiracy theorists

As Occupy Wall Street burgeoned, Ron Paul was campaigning for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. Although there was no obvious mechanism organizing their participation, Paulists were at the OWS planning meetings, and they remained a fixture in the movement and appeared at almost all Occupations, though they were usually a small but vocal minority.

 --------------------------------

The ambiguity of Occupy attracted a substantial number of Paul’s supporters, who in turn attracted a fair amount of media coverage for themselves. They gained general traction within Occupy because of their objection to the Federal Reserve’s bailout of the major banks after the financial collapse, and sometimes focused on its role in the subprime mortgage crisis. Counterintuitively for many, the lesson of the crisis for Paulists was the need for less—not more—federal involvement in the banking system.
Many others who wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve also became involved in Occupy; most supported Paul’s candidacy. Alex Jones, one of the most popular U.S. conspiracy theorists (although not a consistent supporter of Occupy), attempted to crash the movement by calling for a national event on Oct. 6, 2011, to “Occupy the Fed.” Jones said that, contrary to media portrayals of Occupy as left-leaning, “The people on the ground … understand the Federal Reserve is the central organization empowering this world government system. This is a revolt against banker occupation.”12
At the same time, the Oath Keepers organization, in concert with Jones and others, concocted a national push to insert “End the Fed!” rhetoric into Occupy under a call to “Occupy the Occupation!” (Oath Keepers, which holds armed marches, recruits current and former military and law enforcement employees who swear to “uphold the Constitution,” and is driven by conspiracies about the coming One World Government.) It also helped establish an encampment in Occupy Los Angeles and attempted to recruit there.13
Another Fed critic was David Icke, known for his metaconspiracy theory that the global elite are descendants of reptilian aliens who seek to enslave humanity—a story that weaves in classic antisemitic narratives. His “Essential Knowledge For A Wall Street Protestor” video, which promotes anti-Federal Reserve and related economic conspiracies, has about 350,000 views. He also made an hour-long “ad-lib documentary” in Zuccotti Park just after the encampment was evicted by authorities.14 Icke’s followers were active in both U.S. and U.K. Occupations.
Other conspiracists who worked in Occupy include We Are Change (WAC), an international 9/11 “Truther” group. Luke Rudkowski, the group’s founder, is a prolific video blogger and is well-known for his paparazzi-style interviews. On site at OWS from the first day, he did extensive video coverage at Zuccotti Park and is also featured in David Icke’s videos.
Members of WAC New York City, a splinter faction, were also active in OWS, including Danny Panzella, a Tea Party activist who ran for state office in 2010. Even before OWS, Panzella organized demonstrations against the downtown Manhattan Federal Reserve, and he worked hard to refocus Occupy on an “End the Fed!” agenda. He appeared on the Fox News show Freedom Watch, in one of a number of the show’s broadcasts that encouraged libertarians to attend Occupy events.15 Other members of the group who worked with OWS included Craig FitzGerald, a “National-Anarchist” who promotes Holocaust denial and endorses White separatism.

------------------------------

Online, antisemites have continued to be connected to Occupy projects. The most popular is an imposter Facebook page that mimics the “real” main one—and posts blatantly antisemitic content. It has attracted nearly 650,000 followers. (By contrast, the page affiliated with the organization that arose from the Zuccotti encampment has fewer than 500,000 followers.) It is unclear who the secretive administrators of the imposter site are, or why it became so popular. Attempts to remove it have so far been unsuccessful.17
One of the Far Right’s most enthusiastic Occupy champions was the American Free Press, an antisemitic weekly newspaper that is heir to Willis Carto’s media empire. It promoted Occupy even before the initial action, and for months it printed numerous articles supporting the movement, including firsthand reporting from various Occupations.18
Lyndon LaRouche’s Far Right sect was initially involved in OWS. It has long pushed for restoring Glass-Steagall, a New Deal-era act that limited the kinds of investments that banks could make, which was repealed in the late 1990s. Many believe that it would have prevented the housing crisis had it remained in effect. During Occupy, two bills were in Congressional committee that would have restored its provisions, and it was a priority for many Occupy protestors on the Left, as well. LaRouche’s followers were active in the OWS planning meetings, where Glass-Steagall’s restoration was one of six initial proposals for the never-realized “one demand.”19 LaRouche’s organization even claimed credit for making its reinstatement “a leading demand of the movement.”20 Staff at Counter-Currents, a leading U.S. publisher of intellectual fascism and White nationalism, claimed to have attended the San Francisco and Oakland occupations, and they described the events as a valuable experience
---------------------------------

The most prominent figure on the Far Right to endorse Occupy was David Duke, a former Republican state representative from Louisiana and an elder statesman of the U.S. White nationalist movement. In a video from October 2011, “Occupy Zionist Wall Street,” Duke denounced the “Zionist thieves at the Federal Reserve” and “the most powerful criminal bank in the world, the Zionist Goldman Sachs, run by that vulture-nosed bottom feeder, Lloyd Blankfein.” The video has received more than 100,000 views to date. Duke later wrote on the White supremacist web forum Stormfront that “OWS is an opportunity. … Grab this opportunity!”22
White nationalists also participated in some of the movement’s less high-profile iterations, such as Occupy Indianapolis (OI). Matt Parrott of Hoosier Nation—the local branch of the White nationalist American Third Position Party, now called the American Freedom Party—attended OI, and made a video interviewing participants. He wrote: “Our experience was peaceful and positive, affirming my suspicion that the majority of the Occupy Indianapolis attendees were fed up with the same corporate and federal abuses the majority of the Tea Party protesters are fed up with.”23 His colleague “Tristania” [Nazi lover and Libertarian operative Jaenelle Antas] posted a comment on Stormfront saying that “it was a very good opportunity for outreach” and that “it’s about cherry picking people from those audiences and recruiting them to our side.24
[That is a nutshell is what the "truth" movement con was for--recruiting people from the left to push a Nazi agenda]
 ---------------------------

Why did they participate?

It is a mistake to view these right-wing groups and people as “infiltrating” Occupy, since in some cases they supported and helped organize it even before it started. Others were simply participating in a demonstration that loudly proclaimed that it was open to everyone and refused to define even its most basic concepts or demands.
Yet some on the Right did view their work as intentional co-optation. This is an intrinsic problem with the “franchise activism” model, or the practice of setting up a name and format that anyone can adopt and act under. While it allows for ease of replication and flexibility in action—one of Occupy’s great strengths—it also allows a variety of political visions to be pursued under its banner. For example, almost no mechanisms are available to deem the “imposter” Facebook page as illegitimate in relation to the “real” one.

-----------------------
The point it is not so much that the Left was significantly damaged by the Right’s presence in Occupy—though its presence did open the movement up to attacks in the mainstream media, which wasted the time and effort of organizers while turning off potential supporters. The deeper problem is that right-wing groups benefited from the Left’s willingness to give them a stage to speak from and an audience to recruit from.
[The problem with any "big tent" strategy in a nutshell]

 ----------------------------------------
As a result, the involvement of right-wing groups in Occupy raises questions about the dilemma of creating a movement that is open to “everyone” but must exclude certain elements if it is to avoid becoming a forum for right-wing populist protest. The basic format of the demonstrations—a populist attack on finance capital with ambiguous formulations—harmonized quite well with the political vocabulary and framework of the Right and conspiracy theorists.

-----------------------------------------

Are there any practical steps, then, that activists on the Left can take to minimize participation by the Right?
The administrators at the OccupyWallSt.org forum, the main online location of internal discussions, took one small step after they were deluged by conspiracy theorists and Far Right propagandists. In October 2011, they banned anyone who posted about Icke, LaRouche, Duke, or Jones.31
A more proactive first step would be to endorse an anti-oppression platform at the very start, such as the one created at Occupy Boston. Unlike the relatively vague statement from Zuccotti, Boston’s statement explicitly named the types of oppression that it opposed, including White supremacy, patriarchy, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Arab sentiment, Islamophobia, and anti-Jewish sentiment.32
A member of the Hoosier Anti-Racist Movement pointed out that if such a platform had been in place in Occupy Indianapolis, when racist sentiments were expressed towards people of color, there would have been an existing agreement to point to—and a basis for asking the larger group to intervene—rather than relying on nonexistent cooperation from the majority of the largely White participants. The HARM member also said that if racists had been confronted and expelled from the physical occupation, they likely would not have posted a positive video of their experience, felt welcome to continue to participate in the group’s social media, or written about their warm reception.33 Not taking a proactive stance against antisemitism at Zuccotti led to significant bad press and much time and energy invested—often by Jewish participants—in putting out fires.

Julia Child--007 ?

Now that the "truth" con is in its death spiral, in desperation  something--anything--in popular culture is being examined as a "clue".  To something.  I don't know what, but I suspect it'll be along the lines of 'I think I saw a guy on TV who might be  perp!!1!" paranoia.

This is how the "Mark Humphrey is the Harley Guy" garbage was started by Fred BsRegistration and Greg Thomson aka Ozzybinoswald, handily helped by Craig "Killtown" Lazo and his friends.  It turned out the Harley Guy was a radio personality called Mark Walsh and everyone was wrong.  A curious footnote many have forgotten: when Lazo was forced to admit they were wrong, he made a snarky comment about the "coincidence" they had the same first names.

See, I don't believe it's a coincidence.  Some of the people uploading clips of the Harley Guy, sans Humphrey allegations, were the first to cave when proof of Mark Walsh came to light.  Those same people are associated with the Loose Change Forums where Lazo had posted previously.  One of those people even changed their story, saying they never suspected Humphrey, when before they said they thought it was a lead.

I have this archived, but they know who they are and it's really not important at the moment.  Suffice it to say, anyone in possession of the full Harley Guy clip would have had to deliberately edit the first part out where Mark Walsh is actually introduced.    Those people always knew the Harley Guy was Mark Walsh.    It's not a stretch to see a sleazy group of people pimping a conspiracy looking for a public figure they could pin it on.  Finding an actor named "Mark" wouldn't be too difficult.

In the end it all backfired.  The TOS/TOU violations Lazo had to field from the fallout all by themselves may have been what made the hosting provider shut down his 911movement.org forum.    He can squeel his blackmail lies all day long, but the evidence is ample Lazo and company brought this one themselves.  All because the made up lies about strangers to prop up their conspiracy.

It looks like it's happening again, except this time at 911blogger.com.

Shoestring has go it into his head the truth is out there--somewhere in the lives of pop culture figures like Julia Child.  Yes, that Julia Child:

Julia Child had worked as a spy in the past
Here's something perhaps worth noting: Julia Child, who was originally booked on Flight 11, had "a dynamic career as an intelligence officer" during World War II. She worked for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner of the CIA.
According to the CIA, Child "started out at OSS Headquarters in Washington. ... Working as a research assistant in the Secret Intelligence division, Julia typed up thousands of names on little white note cards, a system that was needed to keep track of officers during the days before computers." Shen then worked with the OSS Emergency Sea Rescue Equipment Section.
From 1944 to 1945, Child "worked in Ceylon, present day Sri Lanka, and Kunming, China." In these two years, she served as chief of the OSS Registry. Having top security clearances, she "knew every incoming and outgoing message that passed throughout her office, as her Registry was serving all the intelligence branches." And while she was in Ceylon, she "handled highly classified papers that dealt with the invasion of the Malay Peninsula." (Source: http://www.cia.gov/news-information/featured-story-archive/2007-featured-story-archive/julia-child.html.)
I wonder if Child continued any spying activities after the war ended, or at least maintained contacts within the intelligence community.
OH MY GOD!  JULIA CHILD IS SPYING FOR THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!!1!!1!

Take your tin foil beanie off a mo.  Yes, Child did spy work--while the western world was fighting Nazis:

World War II

Child joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) after finding that she was too tall to enlist in the Women's Army Corps (WACs) or in the U.S. Navy's WAVES.[6] She began her OSS career as a typist at its headquarters in Washington, but because of her education and experience soon was given a more responsible position as a top secret researcher working directly for the head of OSS, General William J. Donovan.[7]
As a research assistant in the Secret Intelligence division, she typed 10,000 names on white note cards to keep track of officers. For a year, she worked at the OSS Emergency Rescue Equipment Section (ERES) in Washington, D.C. as a file clerk and then as an assistant to developers of a shark repellent needed to ensure that sharks would not explode ordnance targeting German U-boats.

And for Child's contribution to defeating the Nazis, we thank her.

But maybe Shoestring, supporting the anti Semite front known as the "Truth Movement", might not appreciate the whole defeating Nazis thing. In any case, why does Shoestring think Child might be involved in intelligence after the war?   And why does he think anything she might have anything to do with the 9/11 attacks?  Something suspicious about her Ratatouille? Child talking about layers, but not using thermite to bring them down?

If history is a lesson, "Shoestring" is trying to start trouble exploiting Ms. Child's memory.  It isn't the first time a "truther" did this.  One of Craig "Killtown" Lazo's most despicable acts was using the murder of Suzanne Jovin to prop up his conspiracies, an act that has been justifiably mocked around the internet.  Needless to say, if this 'Child is a Perp'  conspiracy gets legs, all information about the website owners and their activities will be sent whomever is managing Ms. Child's estate.

It's not just Child on the "shoestring" radar.  Michael Crichton is also being vetted as a "shady character":

Michael Crichton was on a plane similar to Flight 11 on Sept. 11
Here's something I found interesting, although it is difficult to know if it is of any significance:
Michael Crichton, the hugely successful author of books like Jurassic Park, Disclosure, and State of Fear, had a curious experience on September 11. The Observer reported, "Crichton was on an American Airlines flight that left New York for Los Angeles at 8am." The plane was therefore just like Flight 11, except it took off from New York rather than Boston. The Observer continued, "When the plane was ordered down, he called his office to be told everyone was in tears, convinced that he was dead." (See http://www.theguardian.com/books/2006/dec/03/sciencefictionfantasyandhorror.michaelcrichton.)
OH MY GOD!  CRITCHTON WAS ON A PLANE ON 911!!  EVERYONE ON A PLANE ON 911 MUST BE A NEW WORLD ORDER THUG!!!!11111!!

Let's try to help "Shoestring": the only significance is he was on a plane on 9/11. The only reason we know about it is Crichton gave an interview.

These are the feeble grasping of straws of a failing scam as it dies.  Shoestring's comment had three votes, now only two.  There is no group logging onto the board to help Shoe hunt down these perps, one of whom is dead.   It's unlikely it will turn into a Mark Humphrey Witch Hunt episode, because too many of the frauds are well known.  My guess is "Shoe" is one of those damaged broken people who has no life outside of the conspiracy community, and he's trying to find meaning in face of the devastation  evidence the "truth movement" is dead because it was based on a lie from the begining.

Julia Child had nothing to do with the 911 attacks, and neither did Crichton and Humphrey for that matter.  This is out of control paranoid lunacy and the "leaders and website owners need to shut iy down before the get shut down.

As for Julia, we miss you.  Rest in peace and bon appetit

Stormfront, Obama and Murder

A couple days before Hitler's birthday the Guardian reported on the Southern Poverty Law Center study linking the highest profile Nazi website to hate killings.  This hardly came as a surprise:

More than 100 hate-crime murders linked to single website, report finds
• Southern Poverty Law Center singles out Stormfront.org
• Report says users disproportionately linked to major killings

People charged with the murders of almost 100 people can be linked to a single far-right website, according to a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The White Nationalist web forum Stormfront.org says it promotes values of “the embattled white minority,” and its users include Anders Behring Breivik, who killed 77 people in a 2011 massacre in Norway, and Wade Michael Page, who shot and killed six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin in 2012.
After a two-year investigation, the SPLC said (pdf) that since Stormfront became one of the first hate sites on the internet in 1995, its registered users have been disproportionately responsible for major killings. The report was released a month early after white supremacist Frazier Glenn Miller, also known as Frazier Glenn Cross, was accused of killing three people at a Jewish center in Kansas City on Sunday.
“We know that the people who are going to commit the kinds of crimes, like the kinds of crimes Miller committed last weekend, this is where they live,” said Heidi Beirich, report author and a director at the SPLC’s Intelligence Project. The report, released on Thursday, calls Stormfront the “largest hate site in the world” and “a magnet and breeding ground for the deadly and deranged.”
Of the site’s more than 286,000 users, only a small sliver are highly active, the report found, with fewer than 1,800 people logging in each day. While the SPLC only identified 10 murderers out of this large user base, researchers think the murderers’ connection to the site is important because it shows how the website offers a community for people who commit these crimes.

“It’s pretty clear that websites like Stormfront are breeding grounds for people who are just enraged at their situation, it’s there that people find the reasons their lives aren’t as they had hoped and Stormfront helps them find the enemy that is standing in their way – whether it be Jews, African Americans, immigrants and so on,” said Beirich. “Unfortunately it’s not very surprising that people who live in this kind of stew of violent racism eventually pick up a gun and do something about it at some point.”

Stormfront proudly declares that “every month is white history month” at the top of its site and forum discussions concern things such as the latest news stories, ideology, poetry and creative writing.
“The fact of the matter is that more people have been killed domestically by radical right extremists than Islamic extremists since 9/11 and where you find a lot of these people is on these sites,” said Beirich.
SPLC also identified 10 characteristics shared by killers who were active online including unemployment, posting on more than one hate website, and sustained activity on these sites.
Stormfront founder Don Black, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, criticized Miller for giving users of his site a bad reputation. “We have enough of a problem with how we are portrayed without some homicidal whack job coming along and reinforcing that,” Black told the Daily Beast. After he was banned from Stormfront, the SLPC said Miller posted more than 12,000 times on a similar forum, Vanguard News Network, whose slogan is “No Jews, Just Right.”

The SPLC’s report said hate killings skyrocketed after Barack Obama was inaugurated in 2009.
“We have seen and documented at the SPLC an enormous growth of groups on the radical right, particularly in the last five years,” said Mark Potok, the report’s editor and a senior fellow on the Intelligence Project. “That growth quite clearly seems to be driven by the appearance of Barack Obama on the political scene in the fall of 2008 and of course his subsequent election.”
Potok noted that these hate sites are protected by first amendment rights because they don’t contain concrete plots to commit crimes. He said that law enforcement official unquestionably pay attention to these sites, but criticized how much analysis is done on users by federal authorities.

“We feel pretty strongly that the Department of Homeland Security, which is the lead agency in this country for developing intelligence about these groups and individuals, has more or less taken its eye of the ball in the sense that since 2009 the department seems more focused on Jihadists terrorism,” Potok said.
Bold mine.   The radical right was mobilizing from day one of Obama's election, because , you know, he's BLACK.   You'd think the collapse of civilization was immanent.  Two memes were fast tracked and spread heavily in the "truther" communities:    Joker Obama, a repurposed joker Bush, and Obama Hitler.

One of the first places to report Joker Obama is a website devoted to battling "liberal bias":

Obama Joker Poster Popping Up In Los Angeles

 Have you seen this poster?
Apparently, it's beginning to appear in odd places in Los Angeles, but nobody seems to know who's responsible for it.

Radio host Tammy Bruce posted some pictures of this odd creation at her blog Saturday morning (h/t Pamela Geller) leading me to investigate further.
At this point, all I could find on the subject was an April 25 article from Bedlam Magazine:

A poster of Barack Obama in Heath Ledger-style Joker make-up with the legend 'Socialism' beneath it has been popping up recently on surfaces around L.A. It does not appear to be in the same category as the many benign take-offs on the Shepard Fairey 'Hope' poster, such as the one by Australian James Lillis (more of a straightforward spoof that merely substituted a Shepardized image of Heath Ledger as Joker on the Obama poster).
 Here are Tammy's snaps:

Makes you wonder who's behind this.

It's not difficult to figure out.  Though I expect Sheppard is angling for something more specific than the "hide the white women" crowd.[Wikipedia attributes this image to Firas Alkhateeb. Only later would "socialism" be added. Previous version are by Ross Brummet  and a couple college Republicans. ]

A couple days later the same blogger would opine about a double standard:

Not surprisingly, the Obama Joker Poster reported by NewsBusters Saturday is already drawing some outrage.
According to a television station where the posters have been spotted, "Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson is calling the depiction, politically mean spirited and dangerous."
Yet, when Vanity Fair's Politics & Power blog published a somewhat similar visual representation of George W. Bush last July, nobody seemed to complain. In fact, throughout the Bush years, demeaning drawings of the President and Vice President Dick Cheney were quite commonplace.
 And:
Hmmm. I wonder where the Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable was when Vanity Fair published this last July:

And where was the outrage when the Village Voice published this on the cover of its October 26, 2004, issue:

Like many conservatives  Sheppard misses the point.  Unfortunately he doesn't provide links for context, but at a wild ass guess the Bush images were a commentary on Bushes policies, and the fact, let's face it:  as  president Bush was a joke.

The Obama Joker is more offensive not just because of the undertones of racism, but the outright lie he's a socialist.  There is a difference between criticizing someone for something they actually are vs. making up shite to support reactionary paranoia.   This is a false equivalency.  Mind, it's possible Sheppard isn't even aware of this, perhaps believing organized political racism no longer exists.  The SPLC's report pretty much demolishes that idea.

While these were popular with the KKK friendly crowd, they didn't invent them.   And Obama Hitler comes directly from the marketing department of the Larouche cult:

These are relevant to this blog because the more blatant racist "truthers" and libertarian crowd around them were pushing the Obama joker meme from word go.  In fact "Infowars" had a campaign to push the meme, and much like Paultards, was able to mobilize the fringe base to make it a reality:

 http://www.infowars.com/joker-obama-posters-to-go-viral/

‘JOKER’ Obama Posters to go viral
Infowars
August 5, 2009
DON’T ALLOW POLITICALLY CORRECT OBAMANOIDS TO STOP FREE SPEECH & POLITICAL DISSENT.
POST THESE EVERYWHERE YOU CAN IN YOUR AREA AND ONLINE

Note: Obama Joker posters should be posted in public commons where other fliers, public announcements, handbills, etc., are posted. Please do not post on federal or private property as this will be considered vandalism and will be counterproductive and diminish the message of the Obama Joker poster.

This was four days after the NewsBusters report.  The posters in Tammy's pics were probably part of a campaign in progress Alex Jones almost certainly was aware of.

Invented, reporposed or coopted, the anti-Obama memes were a great moral boost to racist fringe culture.  A picture doesn't make anyone kill and I certainly don't think it should be banned.  But it's not too much to expect the agencies that should be tracking these things to use this as a flag to follow the trend. It comes as no surprise that Stormfront.org was a hotbed for discussion around the Obama Joker: Google search

What is a surprise is the link to the first News Busters article about the poster the same day it was published:

http://www.stormfront.org/forum/t626350/

Calling into question exactly how unaware NewBusters was of the origins if a faithful reader picked it up so soon.  Posted by  a self described Libertarian:

The subject clearly has support, wandering into the delusional:

Spread as many as such posters as possible on the most busy places, if enough people see through the deception they fall.
Oookaaaaay.  LA is still standing.  Guess the poster brigade didn't put up enough.

Meanwhile the people sucked into conspiracy culture and particularly the "truth" movement would do well to shun memes of racist origin.  Better yet, shun the entire culture before being labeled a race traitor and targeted by violent nuts.

One last thought: could the embrace of Obama joker in  9/11 "truth" been the death knell of the fake "leftist" truther groups?   People pushing "truth" were always a pale faced bunch.  Only in the very early days was there even a smattering of dark-ish complected truthers.  This would be paralleled in the Tea party, and much like the Tea Party, is a sign someone, somewhere is LYING about the origins and goals of the "movement".  Except in the "truth" movement the lie was more believable because the anti war left was very critical of Bush's handling of 9/11.  What Black Tea Partiers were thinking I don't know: the anti black racism of the Tea Party was far, far more obvious on the street than the anti-Jew "truthers".

In any case, the Obama Joker was actively pushed by "truthers" in mid 2009.  I remember seeing it and being neither offended nor impressed.  I don't remember seeing the socialism tag though.  Had I known it's origins, I would have been much less impressed.  I do remember a spin off of the meme, Hopenosis, which I thought was forced and idiotic. This was offensive because it mocked people's quite understandable desire for economic relief after the Bush years. Mocking a public figure is one thing; having a go at people while they're down is mean spirited. Perhaps if it had been coupled with thoughtful criticism it would have been different.  But I did feel the aversive effects of Hope-nosis.  Like Obama Joker it signaled the end of any attempts to woo the left into 9/11 "truth" and the complete abandonment of any leftist "truther" fronts.

Mia Dolan on Eric Hufschmid, 911truth, at Daily Kos

There was a time Eric Hufschmid had the distinction of publishing one of the few books with good clear photos of the WTC towers as they collapsed on 9/11.  Unfortunately, even back before I knew he was a Nazi lover, his ending screed was full of crazy talk.  I spoke of Hufschmid's book with an individual who would go on to be a Nazi apologist, and whom at the time also gave no indication they knew Eric was a Nazi lover.  This is interesting because this same person would go on a crusade in early 2007 to have Eric removed as an organizer in the Arizona conference due to his sudden new book about Auschwitz [Correction: It was Eric D. Williams who was involved with the Arizona conference, not Eric Hufschmid.  However the rest of the points and associations re: Holocaust denial still stand.]This gave them some brief anti fascist cred...until they became a moderator at a website pushing softcore Nazi apologism.

But here's the kicker:  the webmaster of that website was told Hufschmid was bad news all the way back in 2006, when they both were members of Holocaust denier Jim Fetzer's Scholars for 911 Truth group.

The person who brought this up was a Daily Kos user by the nick Mia Dolan.   Therefore any objections to Holocaust denial in 2007 by the same people pretending not to associate with them was a scam perpetrated on leftists, hoping they would never look up the scammers posts on DKos.  Which, if they thought about it for two seconds, was pretty dumb:  of course leftists are going to wonder what the hell these closet Nazi losers were publishing on a lefty website.  If nothing else, for laughs.

Ladies and Gentelmen, I give you the outstanding posts of Mia Dolan on the
"Truth" Movement.  I'm only sorry I didn't discover them much sooner.

Cross-examiners?
Jim Fetzer and the Scholars group are professional liars.  There is no testing against inconsistencies - no scientific of evidentiary analysis at all.   My conspiracy theory is that they are being paid by Republicans to undermine any real investigation into Bush's 9/11-related negligences.

by Mia Dolan on Thu Mar 23, 2006 at 08:30:32 PM PST

I'm a member of the group
I'm not paid by republicans to defend my country from people who murder my fellow citizens and human beings and blame it on Muslims.  Who's paying you to shield these criminals Mia?  Do you really think that Americans are that stupid?  You're a character assassin, pure and simple.

by Gretavo on Fri Mar 24, 2006 at 04:25:55 PM PST

What group?
The Scholars?  Do you deny that Eric Hufshcmid is a holocaust denier?

by Mia Dolan on Sat Mar 25, 2006 at 01:29:28 PM PST

Please cite his holocaust denying work
and i'll let you know.  i haven't come across anything of the kind, but would like to know why you think he denies the holocaust.

Ok, you asked for it
Here is the link  [http://www.erichufschmid.net/Conspiracies12.htm]
Here are my favorite parts:

This gas chamber was not disguised as a shower. In fact, I would expect the skull and crossbones to frighten people.  (photos available on original site)  This particular photo has been used as evidence that Nazis had gas chambers for killing people, but the Holocaust Truth Seekers complain that  those particular chambers were designed to kill lice in bedding and clothing.  Typhus and lice were serious problem in parts of Europe during World War II. The U.S. Army discovered that DDT will kill the lice. The Germans discovered that cyanide would kill them.
Most Americans have "common sense", and common sense tells us that those gas chambers were for mass executions of people, not mass executions of lice.
However, if the goal of the Nazis to kill the prisoners, common sense would tell us that there were thousands of much easier, much less expensive methods. For example, they could have put prisoners on the trains that have the windows sealed shut. As the trains are rolling down the track, the Nazis could release poison gas. The trains would dump the bodies for burial, and then go back to pick up another load of prisoners.  There was no sensible reason to transport prisoners to a camp where they would have to be fed, especially when you consider that food was in short supply during the final years of the war. Even in America there were shortages of food. Why would the Nazis waste their time, money, and resources keeping these prisoners alive if their goal was to kill them?
And why did the Nazis bother to protect the prisoners from typhus and lice? Why not put the prisoners in the camp, shut the gates, and let the lice and typhus kill them?
We may never know the true details of what happened at the Nazi prison camps, but just looking at a few of the photos and just thinking about the issue for a few minutes should make you realize that something is seriously wrong with the official story.

Before you say anything about Nazis, look through the photos and do some research. Do you even know where the archives of photos are? How many American professors of history have looked at these archives?
How can anybody be given a degree in history and referred to as an expert in history if he has not even looked at the photos of the Nazi camps? How can Ameircan universities be considered "educational" institutions when students are graduating with almost no understanding of what happened just a few decades ago? The photos shows that some Nazi prisons were real prisons, and some were slave labor camps, but none of them were extermination centers. Germany was losing the war during the final years, and they were desperate for military supplies. The Nazis began rounding up the unwanted people for the labor camps.
The prisoners were given beds and food because they were making supplies for the German military. The Nazis wanted to keep the prisoners free of lice and typhus because sickly, miserable prisoners do not make good workers.
Have I misinterpreted this?  Am I just overstating some legitimate criticism of Israeli foreign policy?  You tell me.   By the way, according to Hufschmid the moon landings were also a hoax.
by Mia Dolan on Thu Mar 30, 2006 at 04:52:34 PM PST

where does he say it didn't happen?
I'm not saying I necessarily agree with his analysis but there is a huge difference between DENYING that the Nazis killed millions of Jews (or millions of Russians, Roma, gays, etc.) and questioning specific claims of wrongdoing.  Just because the Nazis were evil (and they were!) does not mean we can accuse them of anything we feel like.  Nothing you quote up there points to anything other than a desire to hold all history, even the history of Jewish suffering, to rigorous standards of truth.  The way you and others throw around terms like "holocaust denier" has nothing to do with truth and everything to do with slander and libel.  Thankfully, people are waking up by the millions to the fact that we cannot trust official accounts of anything.  9-11 is just the latest case of this and one that represents a gross miscalculation by the liars behind it.
Finally, on the moon landing issue, I have not yet taken the time to examine Eric's arguments.  My tendency has always been to dismiss that particular conspiracy theory but I probably will look at the case he makes soon and let you know what I think.  I would never dismiss the possibility that Hufschmid is a plant intending to discredit the truth movement, on the other hand.  His specific criticisms of the official history of Nazi concentration camps does not strike me as reflecting in any way sympathy with Nazis or their cause, which is something you seem very keen to establish on rather weak grounds.  You've shown in your own treatment of the case of 9-11 a remarkable willingness to believe impossible things in order to preserve your Osama did it comfort zone--that to me indicates that you may well harbor prejudices against Muslims, but I wouldn't go so far as to accuse you of denying the fact that the Israeli military has killed hundreds of innocent Palestinians, even if you argued that those murders were justified or the scale of them exaggerated.

by Gretavo on Mon Apr 03, 2006 at 11:42:50 AM PDT
Holy crap
Huffschmid writes that the gas chambers were for de-lousing jews, not killing them.    If you really can't figure out what kind of person he is, then you are an idiot.  I think you can, though, so I will stick with my original conclusion:  you are a vile disgusting piece of shit.  If anything, I think you are a plant to discredit the 9-11 truth movement.  If you google yourself, you will see links stating that you actually work for the CIA.

by Mia Dolan on Mon Apr 03, 2006 at 08:06:24 PM PDT

Um, a tin foil hat for Mia please!
And you call us the looney conspiracy theorists.  Not only do you believe that exploding toner cartridges are what the FDNY repeatedly witnessed in the towers, but you also think the CIA is out to get you.  I realize you're in a bind Mia, but you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel here.  Pray, where do you get this idea that googling Gretavo (short for Greta Von Dutch, my super secret alias) leads to the CIA?

by Gretavo on Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 04:48:42 AM PDT

www.google.com
Someone named Gustavo Espada, who is a staff assistant at Harvard, goes by the nickname Gretavo on the web, is a member of the scholars group, and posts 9/11 conspiracy theories elsewhere.  Is that not you?

by Mia Dolan on Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 12:46:34 PM PDT

wow Mia! do you prefer Reynolds or store brand?
Again, you said I'm a plant and work for the CIA.  Wrong.  You say, without evidence, that 19 mostly dead hijackers flew planes on 9-11.  Wrong.  You think WTC 7 had no explosives to help bring it down when it had only two little fires on a pair of floors.  Wrong.  You think the Israeli "art-students" were "tracking Arabs" before 9-11.  Wrong.  You say a 757 pierced 3 rings of the Pentagon leaving a nice neat hole in the third ring after penetrating 9 feet of reinforced concrete and then disappeared.  Wrong.  Everything you say you believe, Mia, is wrong.  Even that your name is really Mia Dolan.  As in Mia Dolan the famous psychic?  For all I know, YOU are Gustavo Espada, who seems from the google search I did to be a super spy involved in all kinds of crazy things, judging by the rants of someone who likes to post to indymedia sites around the world.  Really Mia, I think you need a rest.  Jacky Chiles has been working you awfully hard no doubt!

by Gretavo on Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 01:53:00 PM PDT

So Mia and others already knew who he was in 2006.  For the record, it's doubtful this clown is a direct CIA asset, however much he acted like oneFar more likely his family is friends of friends working in government offices who are exploiting their positions to push a Nazi lite agenda and "gretavo" just helps out where he can.  Since con artists and intellegence agents use simular technigues, what better way to hide the con, than encouraging the idea there are COINTELPRO agents or "shills"?  When they're caught screwing with people, the targets assume the government is behind it and are afraid to report them.  It's one of the few strokes of genius these evil clowns came up with.

Pity it doesn't work any more:

Hello;

I'm writing a complaint about these companies websites:  911blogger.com(9/11 Blogger Llc/TXXXX, JXXXX), and by extension, ae911truth.org(Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth/RXXXXX), rethink911.org(RXXXXX) and wtcdemolition.com(GXXXXX/SXXXXXX)....

The real CIA wouldn't want anything to do with the level of criminal liability these idiots have created with their Byzantine online confidence games.

Thank you Mia Dolan, wherever you are.

Edit:
Turns out Hufschmid wasn't completely unknown to 911blogger in 2007.  There was an interview published in Jan 2005:

http://911blogger.com/archive/2005/01/eric-hufschmid-interview.html

The wayback machine shows Huffies Holocaust denial material was published at least by April 2005:

https://web.archive.org/web/20050406193450/http://www.erichufschmid.net/Conspiracies12.htm

Which is vitually unchanged from the current page[now hosted at http://hugequestions.com/Eric/Conspiracies12.htm ]

It's possible the page didn't exist in Jan of 2005, but it's more likely DZ didn't dig through the website; none of the Holocaust bollox is easily found on the first page Jan of 2005:

https://web.archive.org/web/20050130174735/http://erichufschmid.net/

But DZ might have had a clue all was not well  when this guy clearly doubts the Moon landings, which is on the front page:

[from  http://wtcdemolition.com/blog/node/3488  ]

everything you need to know about Fetzer...

Jim Fetzer: "I must say I think we're finding out Judy, what happened on 9/11. I'm just blown away by your work. This is the most fascinating development in the history of the study of 9/11 ... I'm going to make a wild guess Judy; I'm going to presume that these [directed energy] beams had to be located in Building 7?"
Judy Wood: "Nope. I don't think so."
Fetzer: "Planes?"
Judy Wood: "No ... I think it's very likely it's in orbit."
Fetzer: "Oh Really?? Oh ho ho ho ho! Oh Judy. Oh my oh my oh my oh my. This is huge ... this is huge Judy."

Yeah, whatever.

Fraud and deception are such ugly words...but accurate.  Just take a look at Fetzer's Sandy Hook fiasco:

Changes: Because Nazi friendlies don't get to get away with it

Happy New Year!   And an exciting year it will be!

Perhaps more exciting than the Sandy Hook Hoax scam.    Because this year, assuming the "truth" scammers  carry on being as dense as a ton of retarded bricks, everything I know about the "Truth" scam goes public.

Not all at once.  And not necessarily in every detail here.  But it will be found in many places.

The fact is for the last couple of years I've been leaking information to journalists and anti racist groups, usually anonymously.     Que accusations of being a government agent, probably of Jewish extraction.  Yawn.

First lesson girls and boys there are no government agents in the 9/11 "Truth" movement.  That is a scare tactic to keep you entangled in circular he-said/she-said conflicts.  It also discourages people from reporting the most egregious and sometimes criminal behavior they witness or are targeted with:  if you believe its an "agent" they think they'll play into the agent's hand.  Take a deep breath, exhale....and report it however appropriate(dial 911, email the hosting provider, file a complaint to their email service, etc).  The person screwing with you is not an agent.  They are either a conman/conwoman or some one just as manipulated and confused as you.

Aside for "debunkers" thinking they are "fighting the terrorists" by trolling  or engaging "truthers"(as opposed to debunkers simply refuting "theories"):      There are as many Al Qaida terrorists in the "truth" movement as there are government agents.  In other words, none.

To be accurate, I should say nearly none to both  of those cases.  I'm sure there are a handful of feds monitoring the right wing militia wackos who litter the movement.  And terrorist sympathizers would find "truther" propaganda useful.  But this is not the point of the "movement".  The 9/11 truth Movement is a front to politically organize the radical and racist far right.

But, of course, they can't lead with that slogan:
"Wanted: White People committed to blaming Jews for 9/11 to vote for Ron Paul"
To sell it to a wide base, it has to be couched in anti war, leftist rhetoric.    This was easy during the Iraq war under Bush.  A bit harder under Obama, him being a black man, and thus offending the core racist base.     Ergo the move, spearheaded by Larouche, to claim Obama was as bad as Bush.

The problem with using left political rhetoric, slogans and ideas is, um...well, the obvious: they set themselves up to get leftists interested in what they had to say.  And if they set up their con well(and for several years they did), those leftists are going to get involved and expect them to walk the lefty anti-racist talk.  And they'll be very unhappy when the movement "leaders" refuse to denounce, and kick out the racists(Barrett, Fetzer, Bollyn, Thorn, Dice, Tarpley, etc, ad nausum).

Someone didn't think that one through.

Is this arrogance?  Stupidity?   Some individuals actually believed they had a chance of "tricking" people into accepting Holocaust Denial, just to keep their support for a little longer.  Really.

Okay, while I know these people are running a con, this is also indicative of a severe breakdown in rational thinking processes.    It would be like me befriending a Hammerskin racist(which would never happen because  my "mutt" genes are obvious, but go with it a mo), pretending to share his values, then, after several months, suggesting he listen to MLK's "I have a Dream" speech with an open mind....and expecting positive results.   I would never be so delusional to think this would work.

Yet "truther" manipulators are that delusional.   Statistically I don't see how a mass of people can ALL have this basic personality defect; my working theory is they start off with mild disordered thought processes, and their association with crazies gives them a grandiose sense of entitlement and invincibility.   This certainly describes leading personalities like Fetzer and Barrett.

Leading to lesson number two:  If you joined the "truth" movement believing in anti war work and believe the "movement" can help with that, you are wrong.  The "truth" movement is a right-wing front.

If you think you can "save" it, you are still wrong.   There is nothing to save.  More importantly, there is no base to work from.  The leftist conned into it, like moi, have bailed.  Everyone remaining is either still conned or a con artist.  The numbers are grim.   Polling from my personal experience only 25% of the people I got to know well are NOT con artists.  Expanding my unscientific sampling to include people I encountered in the movement, that number drops down to 10%.    Meaning 90% of people I have personally observed in the movement are either scammers or so completely brainwashed by them as to make no difference.  In short, your efforts are doomed(Someone please tell Jon Gold).  Whatever valid criticisms exist about how Bush handled the 9/11 attacks, the "9/11 Movement" is never going to make a difference.    I plan a separate blog on this subject.

Lesson three: By their propaganda, they will be known. These are common debate tactics used by scammers to refute complaints made about objectionable subjects:

Holocaust denial/revisionism:    "Free speech! Thought police! "Translation: we feel entitled to promote Jew hating propaganda. Also an attempt to shame/confuse member into thinking free speech means they can say anything the want.

Antisemitism:   "But the Palestinians!"
Translation: cynical exploitation of the Palestinian struggle to excuse spreading Antisemitism

Right-wing spin:   "There is no right or left"
Translation: Libertarian ideology to mask their EXTREME right wing agenda.  A certain sign of a RIGHT-WING Libertarian or an unsophisticated person conned by the ideology.
Any of these manipulations are a sign of a far right-wing ideology at work trying to pass itself off as something more acceptable to leftists and the mainstream.  In other words, its the sign of a CON.

Lesson Four:  the so called leaders( I mean people who created the theories  and make money off them)  are delusional.   All con artists have a certain amount of grandiosity; otherwise they wouldn't think they'd get away with cons.  But most are connected enough with reality to know their limits.    The 911 "Truth" leaders delusional grandiosity has grown to a point IMHO nothing less than intervention from the feds on fraud charges will stop them.(Or a good criminal conviction).  Hopefully, with more education and exposure, their funding will dry up.  Or they will be forced to rely more and more on illegal sources that will attract the attention of law enforcement.

Delusion comes in many forms. One of which is believing there will be no consequences.  Alas, this is not so.   An anomaly of the 9/11 Truth Movement political scam was moving in 2005-2006 to organize via the Internet and exploit the medium to attack ANYONE who questioned their strategy and goals.    Whole lists, now deleted for TOU violations or worse, are gone; others deleted to hide the premeditated malicious nature of these organizations.   I don't know if any political organization before or since has tried to exploit the Internet medium to punish people in their own groups that did not "play ball".   This is distinct from hounding public elected figures.  These people, most members of the American Patriot Friends Network, made it a mission to hound anyone who joined their groups(thanks to their own fake lefty propaganda, I might add) and had the slightest disagreement.

It seems the theory was the Internet was a great tool for bullying people out of the group because the material could be found by Internet searches.    And that's great short term planning for harassment.

Good long term planning?  Not so much.  Because by using a short term harassment strategy to spread lies across the Internet to make the person go away, they created a situation where in the long term the person will have no choice but to address the lies in question...because the lies are still there.

See: the existence of this blog.

For the last several years reasonable attempts have been made to resolve issues with certain 911 scammers.  Here's one made 8 hours ago.  I'll delete it if I learn "Killtown" has actually deleted that blog post(do not hold breath):

Because they refused to cooperate, this blog was conceived.   A couple of cases are in progress and might be resolved.   Those subjects I'll hold off covering until I'm sure there is no hope of resolution.

Meanwhile, "truther" scammers beware.

Everyone else, Happy New Year and  Allons-y!
