The problem is, in a real movement, one guy shouldn't be working heroically to promote a non-profit as credible. That's the responsibility of the Rethink 911 non profit. In a real movement, that has real grassroots appeal(instead of functioning as a means for a select elite to line their pockets), most of the PR heavylifting would already be done. In a real movement, if you build it, they will come. If no one is coming, you need to take a step back and ask yourself why.
Because it's a fringe right fraud. There is no "real movement".
This material comes from the 911blogger "ReThink911 Canada Tour Promo Video" thread, started on Feb 14th. Two days later the only two people posting in the thread are Rice and one of the website's co owners who recently embraced both American Freedom Press and the Sandy Hook "Hoax". In a real movement, more than two people would be promoting the Canadian Rethink911 tour. Instead the plan is to spam reddit?
Think about this.
History does repeat. The last time a person sucked into "the truth" took it upon themselves to make something happen like a real movement was when Cosmos founded truthaction.org.
I don't know if RR is cut of the same cloth as Cosmos, a real leftist who believed 911 truth was part of anti-war activism, and took the liar's at their word. This created a problem. What Cosmos didn't understand is he was supposed to take the leaders at their word, and follow their lead like a good little sheeple. Not strike out on his own and act like a real activist.
It was an awkward chapter in the fringe right history, as the handful of real anti war leftists sucked into the "truth" found a base and a voice, and the leaders of various fringe "truther" fronts, for a while, had no choice but to pretend to support the 11th of the Month campaign. This is why there appeared to be a great grassroots base. All it really showed is how the fringe right could mobilize at a moment to push what they assumed was another managed front. It also showed exactly how large the fringe right machine was, and how effective they were at duping people with propaganda.
To be clear, I don't think everyone supporting truthaction was a fraud, just the top leaders of the "truther" groups, most of whom openly embrace patriot propaganda. I do get a sense of satisfaction that these frauds were forced to walk the leftist talk to keep up appearances, until Webster Tarpley "outed" truthaction as a shill website.
That dog-whistle politics and should have been a clue all was not well in paradise. Tarpley was, clumsily, trying to sound the alarm that truthaction wasn't playing ball because it was run by people hostile to the right-wing Patriot fringe. The 11th of the month actions continued by momentum, probably because it was too awkward for the leaders of the groups involved to change direction by that time. The better strategy was to send a series of false friends (snowjob, etc) to try to get the webmaster's confidence while building up alternative platforms. Meanwhile Cosmos was baffled that the scope of the truthaction campaign wasn't drowning out the right-wing nutty noise.
What he should have been asking himself all this time is, if there really was a leftwing to 911 "truth", why the fuck was he having to do it all, as if reinventing the wheel?
This is a reoccurring theme when activists are recruited and manipulated to promote "truther" schemes: the people claiming organizing experience will try to set themselves up as an authority, and at the same time, try to get the dupes to do all the work. This hides the real manipulators and makes it look like a "group" effort. What is absolutely not acceptable is the dupe ever taking on authority or agency. This is where Cosmos "screwed up" in the eyes of the "truth" leaders. How dare he take them at their word and act independently!
The reason the 11th of the Month campaign wasn't changing the face of the "truth" movement was it was being promoted by the exact same groups that pushed the "truth" movement as a Patriot/militia friendly/racist right wing front. The only reason they'd ever promoted truthaction was to blend in with the leftists they duped.
Fast-forward to the Rethink911 campaign started last year. It initially had a good start, but soon ran into problems. The people publicly promoting it either have a history of fraud in the "truth" movement, or are convicted criminals of the sleaziest kind. The first website, rethink911.org, is a re-purposed domain created by a conartist . Everyone left in the "truther" scam is promoting it. This dodgy operation seems to be leaking out stateside, so they moved the main ops to Canada, hoping to string the con out a little longer.
Rethink911 is not a real movement. It was another front to promote the fraud.
The good news is the clock was ticking from their inception. There is a limit on how many people are left in 911 "truth" to fund this operation and the lifestyles of the people benefiting from it. They will be forced to get donations from fringe friends with deep pockets, but even that is limited. In a year or so the branding will have to be dropped to keep the con fresh.
As the pool of dupes and funds continues to shrink, AEtruth will be desperate to look for more allies. Watch them. Richard Gage is not Larouche. He's not talented enough or ruthless enough to perpetrate this scheme indefinitely. His base and appeal is limited. And it's not like he can go back to work as an architect .
This is not a real movement. And it will not end well.
